I've been thinking about trying to make an insecticide for my garden from some nicotine base, but I can't find any information on it. All I can find is how to make it from cigarette and cigar butts and I ain't going there. lol

I can't find any info on how to make it from nic base (freebase).

I don't understand what strength is needed. I read somewhere where a commercially available insecticide is 400mg/ml (40%), but obviously I can't make that since my base is only 100mg/ml (10%). Nor do I want to make it that strong since it sounds rather dangerous.

So has anyone actually had success doing his?

    How did you mix it?

    Any info and tips appreciated.

I dont know if this is helpful.
I use 20-30% vinegar mixed with orange oil as a weed klller and a much less strong brew of vinegar mixed with dishwashing liquid to get rid of aphids etc.
I mixed an off tasting batch of 100mg nic with some 30% vinegar and sprayed my drive way and foot paths to get rid of weeds and ants. It worked, but it wouldve worked even if it was just vinegar, maybe just not as well.
I didnt try it mixing it with water and Im not going to spray nicotine on any of my plants.

I agree that even 100mg/ml nic can be dangerous. Jerry Baker has a recipe with tobacco juice as an ingredient. Maybe you can adapt what you are trying to do with his recipe as a base. He originally soaked pipe tobacco in water with a bunch of other ingredients.
