Youre right Bman, its already doing that. There is a LARGE number of photographers getting back into the "wet darkroom" again. Kids are making their own paper, and some of the classic film cameras are now worth more than they were when new.

I had my own darkroom for a number of years and photography was my favorite subject in school. I used to do a lot of hand coloring. We lost all my photo equipment in a flood, including my beloved Nikon F5. If I ever go back to photography, I'll go digital or at least film with a scanner. I don't miss the smell of dark room chemicals at all. I'll have to learn photoshop though. I've been in technology my whole adult life but have never dived into photoshop.

Even though I love traditional photography and would love to dabble in it again, I have seen that there is a common occurrence in Kidney cancer in 5 older photographers I know/ have known:) My Dad is one of them, his best friend, and 3 other photo buddies of his in the past. ONe of my past Dig Photo teachers was into Ciba chrome and almost died from the chemicals.

I read an article about wet photography, it said that if photography would to be invented now, it would not be allowed in our homes and that all techs would have to wear haz mat suits. If I were to ever try it again, Id get respiratiors and a full body suit and gloves and of course a really good ventilation/air filter system.

Photoshop is fun and easy if you are at all a little savvy in computers, its using it and using it, to remember what tools to use, after practice its fast and fun. Ive been doing it for so long and love it so much, I dream "photoshop"

The digital version of your F5 is the Nikon D2 series (same body, digital guts) you'd be amazed at what the earlier models are going for at you know where... Same thing goes for Canon EOS 1D's ...You can get either of these for the price of a high end mod...But.. they're not for everyone...

Just waiting for my son to come home and watching Modern Marvels. They just talked about some of the biggest tires in the world, used for earth movers. These are the tires that weigh 15K pounds and take 8 guys two weeks to make and cost $50K each to replace! lol! Think about that the next time you are buying tires for your car.

I think I want to go rangefinder when I get my next high end camera. I've always wanted a Leica or Kontax Hexar with a 1.2f 50mm lens. Remember 10 years ago when they were just trying to jam 5 megapixels into a camera, or 8 into a high end? I'm amazed at the growth. Nikon's high end has 24 megapixels. By the time my grandkids have a high end camera, they will be able to take a portrait and the picture will shot out a nice photo and give you a molecular dna break down of the subject along with a CT scan. lol!

On a slightly different tangient, now we're excited when there are different color LED's and at the high end, range finders built into our average hunting scope. By the time my great grandkids hunt, the scope will have night & heat vision, infrared and animal recognition sensors. Then you'll be able to enter the particular bullet ballistics into the scope and it will factor in environmental variables such as wind, temp, humidity and will notify the hunter when they are aimed at the correct kill spot. Then their ATV robot will go and pick up the carcass. lol! There are truly some clever people in the world making all this stuff up!

"Pro" photo gear and high end mods have much in common...Their cost isn't directly related to what they actually do... You can perform the same tasks with similar devices at a fraction of the cost...Their value lies in their "user experience" and how they affect your state of mind...
No-one needs to spend several hundred dollars on vaping gear... or several thousand dollars on camera gear...to duplicate their basic functions. i.e....E-go's still serve a purpose, and so do cell phone cameras....but, that's not why we buy this stuff...

There is something about the way the "good stuff" makes you feel..in that it is entirely subjective...does it make sense?? no... is it human nature to fill some void??? I'm the LAST person who could give you a logical answer... Maybe we're all the victims of an evil Saturday morning advertising experiment...
You have to admit technology has changed the way we think about the most basic aspects of our lives..and the satisfaction that comes from experiencing whatever the "state of the art" is to you...
Think about what the members of this forum have in common... and how profoundly different we are... the fact that this is even possible might be the most amazing "advancement" in our lifetime...

Do you think the creators of all this would have second thoughts if they knew that someday, I would attempt to fill the emptiness of cyberspace with this drivel ???

Goes back to the old saying: If it aint broke, dont fix it...... Many have found the same, the original KFL was working great, but because the other company brought out air control and were convincing people it was better, Svoemesto did the upgrade to compete. Maybe some people benefit from more airflow, could be that those doing dual, triple and more need more air? But for those that do a simple single end up with un-necessary air, hence your whistle ? Do they still make the original KFL?

I hope so, think I need another ...... My son has commandeered my KFL for the last couple of months. He finally learned how to replace the wicks and dry burn. Now I have to teach him to make coils :)

Agreed! I have my KFL plus and don't want to change it. I take that back, only a little. With the M tank it's perfect. The same goes for the Taifun GS and GT, both are awesome right out of the box. The GT goes perfect with an ELA and the GS is perfect with a P+

Oh, so there are 2 upgrades on the KFL? Okay, KFL original, KFL + and KFL+ V2? SO , is the orginal vs the KFL+ which is better, I mean mine is perfect, no problems.

The one I sent you is the regular KFL. In my opinion, it is the best. Then, there was the KFL+. Now, there is a KFL+ V2. That is what I just got two of. Not a fan. O.K.., but I like the original better. Can't wait to get my broken KFL back in working order.

Okay, just did a little studying. The KFL and KFL+ are the same except they added an o-ring to the filling hole. KFL+ V2 is the one with the air flow adjustment. SO the thing I could not find out is if the KFL+ is discontinued. Im sure the original is.

I think the airflow was added with the KFL+. The KFL+ V2 is shaped a little different on the inside. I think it may have a bit more capacity. The o-ring on the upper cap is indented. Less likely to fall out like the original KFL. The fill hole is indented and has the o-ring on the screw.

I neer had a KFL+. So. I don't know if it whistles. I think, the airflow screw was on the side on that one? On the V2, it is on the bottom.

I just don't think the airflow works very good. I'm not seeing it. And, it whistles. Driving me crazy!
