K so lets say this came to me in a dream. Idk if anyone is working on an adapter or anything of the sort yet but my question about it all is how to actually cut threads. Who would I need to find or what machine will I need to find?

This dream involves taking an oddy of some sort, cutting threads on the outside of the bottom cap that would line up and thread directly onto a sigelei #8.

I am already thinking about direct airflow from the battery tube and what not. Doesn't sound safe to be inhaling directly from the battery tube in case it vents... I was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction when it comes to cutting the threads.

Threads are made several ways: taps and dies, single point on a lathe, or with a tool called a thread mill on a cnc milling machine.

Taps, for internal threads, and dies, for external threads, can be used without anything else other than a handle and a means to hold the work. They are easy enough to find for standard threads, but get really expensive for special threads.

Screw cutting lathes can be had for a few hundred dollars if you don't mind hobby grade equipment. There is a learning curve, but it's probably your best bet for versatility. I have made quite a few battery tubes, switches, atomizers and the like on a very small Sherline lathe. It is a bit tedious cutting threads on it, but it certainly does it.

Thread milling is an industrial process as it requires a machine capable of helical interpolation. Any decent cnc machine can do it, but I rarely see it done on hobby cnc machines, although they may be capable.

In short, find a machinist who can do the work, or get a lathe and do it yourself.
