Hey guys and girls so i have now build a nano coil on the Russian 91% using cotten at 1.4 ohms which is perfect for me, i have also done my first dripper too which is the trident at 0.8 ohms with cotten and also the magoo (ithika clone) 1.5 ohms, soo far love rebuilding its fun and kinda peaceful and i like just chilling out listen to some music and building some coils and wicks good times.

Until the genesis came along

I have come across some really annoying problems now i have watched a far amount to youtube videos based around genesis builds so i thought i go and get a prometheus and i did(not the clone BTW i wanted to treat my self). So my first genesis build things were going great followed all the steps you see for basic builds on genes but for some reason i cant get the hot spot to go away like i tweak the coil for a bit untill the hot spot goes then all good im happy vaping away on it, and then BAM! horrible taste check to see what's going on and sure enough i have a hot spot. rebuilt soo many times and i get the same results what am i doing wrong are genesis builds just soo tedious that i have to sit here and play with the coils over and over until i get it right cause i have attempted it like 10 times at least

genesis are a giant PITA!

Make sure you oxidize your wick really well... When thats done, use the pulse method to oxidize it some more, after that get rid of the hot spots by playing with your coil, after that, dont touch it anymore.... After that..... Forget genesises and go back to your drippers and kayfuns lol.

You can try to build your genesis with cotton or silica instead of ss mesh. Youtube genesis cotton dripper.

If you persevere with ss mesh, it will eventually work, but it will be very frustrating. Dont rebuild it when you have a hot spot, work that hotspot out by moving individual wraps with a screwdriver or something of the sort. You want to make sure that your coil touches the mesh all the way through, Make sure that the wick is constantly wet by tilting it, if it get dry it will taste like crap.

As for the benefits of vaping a genny.... I cant think of any.

They leak if not standing upright therefor not pocket friendly at all, They are a pain to build, To me they taste like metal when coiled with ss mesh. I think that their design is outdated especially compared to all the superior designs that are out there (kayfun, taifun, russian, squap etc etc)

I beleive that a cheap kayfun clone would behave better than an expensive genny. But thats just me.

Fluke, there is a real learning curve to them. Gennies do give a good vape when they are working well, but I can't fully disagree with other comments above (Steam Turbine). I was a die-hard Gennie user up to the moment I set up my Kayfun....

Have you tried using cotton as a wick instead of stainless mesh?

i was a kayfun user til i got my genny. i prefer the genny. to each his own. i am regretting selling my kayfun tho, as it was a good on the go atty because it had no issues. no leakage and it was(is) very dependable. man i really do regret selling the kayfun now that i really think about it. damnit!

Got it working turns out I wasn't oxidizing the mesh good enough as in till its black but yeah all the coils are burning evenly the only thing is it kinda has this burnt metal after taste I'm going to give it a go all day at work tomorrow and hopefully it goes away but if not does anyone have a vid they recommend to follow for cotton as in to use it as a auto dripping

Greetings, welcome to the forum. Genesis-style RBAs with a mesh wick can provide an awesome vape, but it is really difficult learning how to do a proper build. If you want to learn how, you can get lots of help in the Rebuildable Atomizers subforum.

A couple quick tips; are you oxidizing your wick properly? Some advanced users skip the oxidization step, but I think it's a useful thing to do while you're learning. Definitely use a torch, a cigarette lighter won't work as well (besides, you threw out your lighters with your last pack of smokes, right? :D)

For the coil, the drill bit method is a very good way to learn how to do a build:

Once you've got your wick and coil in place, you can use the pulse method to work out the hotspots and shorts, and get your coil glowing evenly: Genesis Atomizer Coil Wrapping For A Newbie! - YouTube

as foolish as this may sound, make sure you are tightening the positive screw on the post. just the other day i was wondering why my turbine wasnt giving me the usual amount of vapor. took a screw driver and tightened all the screws (neg screws were tight, positive screw was a tad bit loose) and wham! a loooot more vapor.

so i just figured i would use some cotten instead of mesh, i watched one of rip trippers vids on the cotten build and it worked fine easy as and great flavour too (not as good as kayfun). i have a kraken coming in the mail which was ordered before i had issues with the genesis i think ill try the ss mesh with the kraken again and hopefully it just works fingers crossed but yeah thanks for your help peoples
