Good on ya fender, I'm sure all of us ordering would be willing to pitch towards one for Dan, without him this co-op probably would not be possible.
I absolutely think we should include the price for Dan as it would be less than a dollar for everyone. Just a way for all of us to show our appreciation for all if his development work as he continues to innovate and improve existing and new designs.

Here is my alternative tubing. I will have to cut it into 8" lengths and it has a little larger OD. What are opinions on using a thicker tube? The OD is 1" instead of 7/8".

Personally I would prefer the 1/8" wall. But I will concede to the preferences of the group.

And as far as I am concerned we can get Dan 2 of them. :2c:

The big advantage with going with the 1"OD is that I can get it locally. The Plastics company I have been dealing with has been giving me a run around and I am about done with them.

The cost for ordering would have a pretty hefty shipping charge.

I don't think the top cap will fit flush with the outside of the tube if you use a larger OD. Unless you modify the design of the top cap too.

Edit - bottom may be the same story.

I didn't consider that... Maybe I will look for a supplier in Minneapolis as I go down there frequently.

Yep, that is correct. The top cap and bottom stop of the main assy are 7/8" You would have to increase it to 1" if you want it flush where it transitions from SS to poly tubing.

not enough in stock =[

Just get it from McMaster-Carr,

8585K61 Polycarbonate Round Tube, 7/8" OD, 3/4" ID, Clear 8 Feet 8 0 2.52 Per Foot 20.16

I just checked and for 38' it would be 95.76 excluding shipping. Also they do not cut it to length. only sell by the foot. So I would recommend having it cut locally to 3" lengths. That would be 150 3" piece at 38'.
You only need roughfly 2.75" per mod of tubing.

bstedh, I just ran across this on ebay

STAINLESS STEEL WOVEN WIRE MESH (filter grading sheet) | eBay

Its a little late and my mind is a bit fuzzy thanks to my meds so I am not sure if this is a good deal for us. The pdf listed has a price list for larger quantities.

The 400 mesh is 8.20 GBP for ~<12"X~<12" piece. So the savings isn't really there. Also I am hesitant to purchase from another company as everyone seems to have had very good service from The Mesh Co. That alone weighs heavily in their favor. Plus we will get free extra sheets.
