So, my first genesis-style system came in today (the DUD), as well as my first Phoenix. Luckily I've had a bit of practice rebuilding coils for the Novas I was running- apparently, I must be pretty good at it, because I have yet to mess up a single coil. Anyway, I loved the setup on the Dud so much after my first build- it ended up being way easier to build than I thought it would be! It ran a little cool, so I took out a single wrap- but I had no hot spots, no shorts, NOTHING... just pure vaping pleasure:

...And even though my Phoenix was vaping perfectly, I thought, "I have this little piece of stainless scrap oxidized and ready to play...why not convert the Phoenix?"
So I did:

I couldn't find a tutorial on a vertical-wick stainless-mesh Phoenix setup, but again, it was fairly easy to do with a few small tools to move the coils around. I used the drill-bit method, then the rolling-paper method- and I had to kind of maneuver the top coil around the mesh a bit as it was heating up red-hot, even with juice on it. Now, it's functioning perfectly! Edit: To give me some room to maneuver the air-hole around on the phoenix clone, I added an o-ring from a DCT (which I might never use again, lol). It gives me a lot of room to play around with airflow.
I hope all of this success today means that it will always go this smoothly...

Anyone else out there experimenting with vertical-coil mesh setups on the Phoenix clones?
