Generally people build Genny style atomizers (like the RSST) at a very low ohm resistance, which most VV devices won't recognize, or will recognize as a short. Thus, a lot of shops selling RBA's list them as "best for use in a non-regulated mod" so people can vape sub-ohm coils without a problem.

Edit: I started with saying generally, but what I meant to say was "Some people like to build..."

fwiw, i started out with an aga-t2 and put it on top of a vamo, just to see what gennie's are all about. even with a 'higher' resistance coil (1.5-2 ohms) on a regulated mod, you'll still get enough of the genesis experience to be able to decide whether or not you want to invest more money into it.

basically, i'd say just start with the rsst and save the mech mod for later. if you can deal with building it and like the way it vapes, then you can buy a mech mod later (and know that it will just get better and easier from there). if you don't like it (some people don't, for many different reasons), then at least you figured it out cheaply.

that being said, it's a WHOLE lot easier building a gennie with a mesh wick if you can oxidize the wick with the pulse method, which isn't possible with a regulated mod...

It will work fine with a regulated device, you just need to build a higher ohm coil. Probably around 1.5 and higher to be safe. I use my aga-t2, rebuilt protanks and evods on my zmax v3 telescope with 2 18350s in a 1.3ohm coil at 5v.. Works like a charm.. But to be honest sub ohm coils are the best for me.. .7 ohm on a full mech gives me the best vape..

I have my Z Atty on my ProVari. I am using 28g kanthal, with coils normally between 1.3-1.4 ohms. I vape this at 3.6v. Now it may be easier for some to get a new coil running on a mech mod. I can easily get one running on a VV device in under a minute. The provari is just more sensitive to shorts, so you have to be quick to poke your coil if there is a short.

On VV, there is no need for sub-ohm coil. I just crank up the voltage if needed :)
