Just wondering if anyone has experience with this. Vanilla enhances the taste of sweetness. Id be keen to try a genuine extract (oleoresin) of vanilla in my juice.

But does this vape well, taste good, clog things? Those who have tried it, whats your experience?

An oleoresin isn't the type of extract you want to vape. Oleoresins are too thick and oily for vaping. Their applications are more for fragrance candle and soap making. The process of making oleoresins often uses isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) rather than ethanol (grain alcohol) to extract the vanilla and then the solvent (alcohol) is evaporated off completely, leaving a thick oily compound that is actually void of much flavor but very fragrant. What you want is a tincture. Basic natural vanilla extract is just that; an alcohol tincture of vanilla beans. You can surely vape that but I would add very small quantities to your juice if you do. The alcohol may be perceptible in the vapor and vanilla extract is very particulate so it gunks up attys pretty quickly. Many of the juice vendors who make their own extracts are using vanilla tincture. They may evaporate some or much of the alcohol, then add it to PG and water to make a flavor base with a low alcohol content.

Fair enough. Yes I was doing some googling on that today, and you describe it well.

What about an absolute?

Anyone have much experience with vanilla generally?

Vanilla fans out there? Seems like an ideal vaping flavour...warm, comforting, plain, smooth, sweet.

Are are there safety concerns with vaping vanilla (or is it just the artifical vanillin)? Just read something about that...seems like its just the synthetic stuff, and just speculation, but some more detail would be grand :)

I have been searching for a vanilla-extract-type eliquid, as I love the general undertone of it when mixed with other flavors. Kind of like a "dark" vanilla taste without sugary sweetness and NO floral-y-ness.

I just got in some madagascar vanilla flavoring from Flavor West that smells straight up like vanilla extract. I have it mixed up right now, I'll report back after it steeps a bit and I can sample it. Just based on the smell, it's the closest flavor I've had so far to vanilla extract. And at 15% flavoring, it's not very dark at all, so I'm hoping it will be coil-friendly.

I was just thinking about this last night. As a pastry chef I have a lot of experience making my own special flavoring compounds for baking. I was thinking it would probably be pretty awesome to just put a split open vanilla bean in an ejuice and let it steep for a week or two to add a vanilla essence. I would use a good fresh bean, not a dried up Spice Island one from your average grocery store.
I haven't done it myself yet. If anyone tries it I'd love to hear how it worked!
