Getting overwhelmed--n00b needs tank recommendations and advice

I quit smoking cloves and started vaping in late December (but can't remember the precise day, so I just say I quit 1-1-14), and so far I love it and haven't backslid. I lit up one analog about two weeks into January to see if I was over them, and it tasted gross and got put out immediately, so a winner was me.

I started with what was sold as an eGo, two 650 mAh batts and two CE4 wick-type clearos (hope I'm using the right lingo) and chargers and such in a case with eGo on a metal plaque on top, but it doesn't have any Joyetech branding anywhere, so my suspicion is that it is a clone. They got the battery button right, I'll say that, and it works fine, but I'd say that hoping it will last 6.5 hours on a single charge, as 650 mAhs allegedly are supposed to do, is laughable at best. It got me off cloves, so no hate.

Then I got the eRoll, and noticed that eJuice tasted SO MUCH BETTER in it than from the CE4 tanks. So I tried a Kanger TS3 2.4ml bottom-fill-style tank, and, being a n00b and having ZERO instructions, got juicefinger. Once that was all cleaned up, I was expecting the same taste from my eGo clone set-up as the eRoll, but no. If anything, it's worse. Brand new CE4 tank, same thing.

My wild guess here is that I don't like something in these tanks, or I am n00bing it up and spoiling a lot of expensive eJuice by being dumb.

I'm also looking at a Kanger Evod starter kit, as a quick surf through the forum seems to indicate that n00bs and vets alike are happy with that. I'm not wild about the style of the tanks, but I think that's resistance to yet another new thing. At this point, I just want to buy juice I like, come home, and vape for a couple of hours with no issues. The eRolls are awesome, decent vape cloud, great taste, cute as a bug with an elegant case, but they are fiddly. I find them great for rotating through several different juice flavors or for carrying out and about. They are not as good for just sitting down for an hour or two and vaping without refilling or recharging.

Just as an aside and a testimony to the addictiveness of collecting vape stuff, I ordered some etched chrome 1100mAh eGo batts a week ago from Viking Vapes (note that there are apparently two "Viking" companies, and the man I spoke to on the phone seemed very nice and apologetic about some mysterious computer bug that caused shipping delays, but I have not yet received my K6, K8, or K23, nor was the K13 I ordered in stock, so I can't comment on THIS vendor yet; I'm just hoping I get what I ordered). I've been spoiled by Pink Spot, Wordup and RockyMountain, all of which ship SUPER FAST, so the wait is painful.

I think what I want in an eGo-style tank is a top-fill, for now, and something that I can reuse and just order inexpensive parts for, at best. I don't think I'm using any dangerous eJuices that might crack a tank, but I'd prefer to avoid even worrying about that and find a glass or crack-resistant material juice container. I'm okay with standard capacity (what, 1.8-2.0ml?) and right now, aesthetically, I don't really like how the kanger tank is wider than my eGo batts and can't fit in the drilled-out holder I got to hold my eGo upright. I'd prefer, if the tank has more capacity, for it to be longer, not wider. I'm sticking to black and chrome equipment for now, and don't see a need for colored glass or Pyrex--the Kanger is a lavender, girly color which isn't awful, it's just not what I want right this minute while I'm trying to settle on a delivery system for my juices; I'll worry about colors and such down the road. I want to see if my juice turns a funny color or is running low. I haven't seen a Kanger Evod tank close-up, is the view window big enough for that?

Any recommendations for a glass or crack-resistant, top-filling, n00b-proof reliable tank that holds a decent amount of juice, comes with a tip or standard CE4-style tips will fit on it (no real preference for tip style yet, though I did like a disposable gas station vape with a hookah-style tip on it), is roughly the same diameter as a standard eGo CE4-compatible battery (least important, but I just prefer that right now), will also work with the Kander Evod starter set I'm eyeballing, and is easy to maintain? I'm cool with washing and drying, or replacing an inexpensive part every month or so, but I am not cool with buying a brand new tank and having it make my juice taste gross like plastic or something, or not fitting on my existing batts or in my stand, or getting into rewicking or dealing with easily breakable prongs and widgets, or being a pain in the behind to fill or rinse out and reuse. And please don't let it have a rep for being leaky. I'm a n00b, I am going to make mistakes, and I can't afford to manage to break a $10-20 tank in a matter of days due to n00bie derpiness and learning curves.

I'm even OK with buying one or two different tanks that fit that description and experimenting, if they are affordable. I would prefer not to impoverish myself trying equipment that doesn't work and then being stuck with no juice or no working tanks because I spent my budget on stuff that won't work with what I've got or which I can mess up due to no instructions and general ineptitude. I mean, I'm naturally pretty intuitive about fiddly things, but trying to top off a stupid basic Kanger bottom-fill tank to avoid a burnt taste resulted in me with a lap-full of expensive juice. (There was more left in there than I thought, clearly. D'oh!)

I hope to find some decent tanks I can stick with for a while, that don't take much fuss, while I focus on finding juices I like and spending on those. I just want my equipment to work, and make my juices taste good, and which will be a nice at-home alternative to my awesome little eRolls, which I adore, but which are not nearly as relaxing to use like my bogus clone eGo kit started off like, if you really want to just settle in and not refill or recharge for a while.

Also, bonus points if Rocky Mountain or Wordup has this N00b Vaper's Holy Grail Tank in stock, because I'd like to reward them for their fast shipping and excellent customer service so far with as much of my business as I can direct there.

Also also, I realize I'm probably going to want to experiment with VW/VV sometime down the road, but, seriously, I'm just not there yet. Unless there's a similarly inexpensive n00b-proof starter set out there that doesn't use proprietary parts and can be used even by someone who is still mostly clueless about the finer points of vapetech, I think I need to stick to derp-resistant Kanger Evods and eGo C-style stuff.

I would ask at my local brick and mortars, but neither had ever even heard of an eRoll when I went in for parts, one sold me an eGo clone and called it a Joyetech, which I am pretty sure it isn't, and they are all mostly geared toward tobacco products. The vapers in these B&Ms are almost as clueless as I am about vaping (I asked about passthroughs and they all were, like, "WHUH?"), but have the luxury of swapping out stuff that doesn't work for them with ease because they work in a smoke shop!

This was long, but I hope that the detail helps anyone who is kind enough to consider helping me out understand where I am in my vaping journey (i.e., raw derpy n00b) and tailoring suggestions based on my current inexperience, and not being tempted to suggest the very bestest and awesomest expensive thing possible because you KNOW I'll want it 6 months from now when I'm better adjusted to vaping and such. In other words, the Provari looks awesome, the Nautilus looks awesome, but if I can't fill a bottom-fill Kanger tank without ending up covered in juice, I'm thinking I'm not ready and my ego isn't the least bit bruised by that. :p

Kanger evod clearomizer = 5.00 fits on your current battery.. all you do is turn it upside down, the process of filling is the same. And also nothing will last a month. A head will last about a week 2 max if your a light vaper.

Ce4 = not great IMO

Your best best for ease of use vape quality without leaking tanks would be a bottom feeder with a cartomizer that you can change out.. Here is a cheap one you can try.. Revolution V2.1 Review | Vaping Guides to the Electronic Cigarette

Well, THERE'S the problem. Turns out my B&M not only sold me knock-off eGo C batteries, they also sold me fake CE4s, which honestly don't need help being poopy compared to other juice holding parts available.

Second B&M knows what it's talking about re: vaping (1st has casual vapers on staff happily using their knock-off crud--the staff means well, but they don't know more about vaping than I do, and I'm a dumb n00b), but he tried to push his primary distributor and had a slightly overpriced tiny selection. I asked about a starter Kanger Evod set and for what his cost, I'd get an extra batt, an extra atty-tank thing and 5 extra coil things from at least a dozen reputable vendors on line. I don't begrudge a dude making a profit, nor paying a knowledge and convenience tax to get instant gratification and vaping advice from someone who hopefully knows his onions, but more than a 100% mark-up is a wee bit high. Anyhow, got a REAL Kanger Protank II (V2) Mini atty and, for the heck of it, a slightly overpriced "bismuth rainbow"-finish Vision 1300 mAh spinner batt and will report back if they resolve the WTH Is Wrong With My Attys problem. If they function, that'd be an improvement. One CE4 from Derp B&M wouldn't draw AT ALL, fresh out of its bag. If Overpriced B&M's stuff works, I'll find something to buy there now and then. They have such a tiny selection, it will be hard.

Anyway, I think we have have discovered the root of the problem. Bad bootleg fake stuff.

I never did much dripping with atomisers. After my Ego, I took the plunge into the world of tanks. People mostly by RDA because of the ease of building low Ohm setups on them and thus providing big clouds. Your batts won`t work for sub-Ohm builds, so if you want to start rebuilding you gonna want a bigger battery. Nowadays there really isn`t much benefit out of mechanicals because the quality of the VV/VW devices currently on the market but they aren`t cheap but neither are the mechs so... The choice is up to you, only you know yourself best. Do you want it easy with no hassle then there are good clearomisers with changeable coils or do you want to take it a step further and start learning how to make your own coils and wicks?
