To anyone that may read this:

As i type out this thread, i am on the verge of pulling out every hair in my head. I began vaping around January of this year and was doing great, had been off analogs for about 2 months when my 510 kit that i had bought began to not give any throat hit at all. I failed and went back to analogs.

My wife is 4 months pregnant so about 19 days ago i decided i had to drop the analogs. I bought a few new 510 attys and some new liquid and i was back on the wagon. I then started to check out forums and other model ecigs etc and that is when i ran across the GG. It was so beautiful and shiny and the idea of vaping at 6v was making my mouth water so i took the plunge, sold my nintendo DSi and bought the GG with Tenergy RCR123 rechargeable Life Po4 batteries from vaporkings.com. Everything was great when it came in, i tried the GG and LOVED it, i thought wow i am finally with the perfect vape.

A funny thing happened though, with the 2 pairs of batteries i bought, one of them would not hold a charge. I emailed vaporkings and they sent me a replacement, it is doing the exact same thing and will not hold a charge. I know it can't be the charger because i still have one good battery (useless without a mate thought being only 3v per). I thought, well i can figure this out later, i still have one good pair and while those are charging i can fall back on the 510 of which i also bought attys from vaporkings and at 3..2ish volts with the 510 battery, are no good at all, no throat hit and not much vapor, you practically have to melt the thing to get a decent hit.

To my wonderful suprise, i was vaping with the GG on my one good set of batteries and the GG began to get hot. I took the batteries out and they were so hot i couldnt hold them so i junked them.

Now i am left with 510 batteries, terrible attys, a monster load of liquid that i have spent close to $150 on over the past 19 days and a $158 GG that is worthless to me because now i am afraid to buy any batteries for it.

At this point, my hands are in the air and i am about 5 minutes from a pack of Marlboro Lights. Can anyone offer any advice and if no advice is anyone in the market for quite the collection of 510/901 batteries, lots of liquid, and a GG?

Thanks to anyone who might read this.

Hi Straight, Sorry to hear about your bad luck. This will be a short reply it's 2.50am and I should be in bed. It sounds like you shorted the attie by overtightening the GGTS and thats why it got so hot. Bad batteries happen, but check they are sitting in the charger properly, sometimes the insulation stops this. And finally load up the strongest liquid you have in the 510. Good luck we have all been there and felt the pain. Daz

Yep sounds like the 510 shorted. Need to put it on, gently push in the .... plug and when screwing the battery section on feel it connect then only do it up very slightly more, like an 1/8th of a turn. I'd suggest watching either Rob or Imeos early GGTS videos about this.

901's are a lot more forgiving, it is possible to do the same to them I believe but even though I crank them down, none have died.

Hi Straight,

I have this issue too. My CT where my 510 atty is connected gets hot. Even the atty is hot too. I have bought 2 CR123A batt at 3.0V LiFePo for 6V vaping but a single 3.0V~3.2V has no TH on 510. In order to use a single batt, get the 3.7V CR2 or CR123A with 600~1000mah will do just nice... When the atty or batt gets hot, something is not right. Do not continue to vape but troubleshoot it. I found out that my atty is dead so this thing happens. To troubleshoot, I put in a new freshly charged batt, it still is hot, changed to a new atty and I'm in cloud 9... But now, due to the material made from alu on the threading of the 510, it has worn out & thus, now I'm vaping on my backup unit...The Mako Minno. Awaiting Imeo to send me the modified version of the connector made in steel...Since the atty connectors we vapers tend to always screw/unscrew for cleaning, changing new atties made it worn out fast thus no grip when pushed to make contact with the batt post. The mako works good but the issue i have with it is, it leaks into my batt! Have to becareful during dripping...

Cheers,
Jay aka Ice

Hey Straight,

Surprised to see your post here...I thought we'd got you taken care of on the atty/battery issue.

As I explained to you the other day there is really only two ways the GG can short out. Too much pressure on the center pin (overtightened) or a foreign object inside the GG itself. Once you short an atty it's probably ruined unless you pull the center contact out some. Sometimes you don't realize how much pressure you are creating on that center pin when you screw the GG down, but it's a lot. I've been amazed to see some people take a GG double fist gripped and screw it together until it won't turn anymore, LOL.

On those batteries...try charging one at a time. It's possible one of the contacts on your charger isn't good and even though it says it's fully charged, it's only indicating for one battery. Is your charger white or silver? The new battery I sent you came out of a new box so it's not likely that it's bad.

Also as someone else suggested, the 510s are not going to work hardly at all at 3.0 volts. What you need is a 3.7v battery and maybe even a 510 LR atomizer. I'd also suggest the true Joye 510 atomizers and not the clone style you bought. The clone style work more like a 901.

Please let me know what you find out...we're here for a reason but I can't help you if you don't let me know you are still having problems :)

Thanks
Rob

Rob thanks so much for the response, yes i thought i was taken care of too until last night when i tried the new battery. I just can't believe my luck. The charger i have is white and i have tried charging them seperately. One of the batteries in the original pair does fine at least i think so. I will try to let them both charge seperately in each chamber tonight for a couple of hours each just to make sure. Maybe the one i think is fully charged and working is actually not. I sent you an email earlier today so just let me know what you think when you can. Thanks.

Straight,

Be careful with those non-rechargeables, especially if you are stacking them. It could lead to a dangerous result such as an explosion. I've read bad things and seen scary pics when those type of batteries are stacked because I do not believe they are protected batts. I could be wrong as I don't know the exact type you bought, but if they are not protected do NOT stack them.

somewhere out there......
I highly recommend going with a single (no stacking batteries) high drain 3.7 battery (18650 or cr123) then using LR 510 2 ohm atties or mini LR 801 atties 2 ohm. The high drain batteries are the red looking ones... you can get the batteries and LR 510 atties at Vaporkings.....and the mini LR 801 you can get over at Ikenvape.com (sorry for putting another vender on this sub-forum but I dont want to see anyone going back to analogs).

The mini LR 801 atties have become my favorite attie over all other atties... tons of vapor and very tastie flavor... comparable to cartomizers or even better.

When using the GGTS becareful with how tight it is.... once you feel a tiny bit of resistance STOP.... then hit the button and take a test hit.... if you get vapor your good to go... there is no need to tighten the tube any further... The GGTS is a great device especially the V2 upgrades.... #741 here....

What ever you do DO NOT GO BACK TO ANALOGS

keep on :vapor:
