Glass box mod?

So this is purely because I'm out of wood and I have too much Plexiglas laying around the house but is it possible to make a glass box mod? I mean there's already some nice wood ones but would it be advised to make one out of plexiglas ? I was thinking parallel 18650 with an anti vandal switch.

I was actually trying to by plexiglass a bit ago to make a box mod out of it. I think it would be a gorgeous mod and very durable. My two questions are what are you using to keep it all together and do you plan on staining it?

Plexiglas is somewhat brittle and has a bad habit of cracking/chipping when machined. Plus, joining seams is going to be "messy" if you use superglue etc. There is an adhesive for plexiglass but its pricey ( its more of a solvent than a glue)

Lexan is a better choice as far as construction/machining goes....

Yes it's doable and not that hard as long as you have a few things. This is the method I used to start my lan party box ( I added guts and standoffs ofc ).

Also acrylic / plexiglass can be painted, you just need to do some prep work with some sand paper and primer etc. If you chose to go that route

The best way to "glue" plexiglass (plexiglass is a brand name for acrylic) is to use a solvent made for acrylic. It isn't really glue. It actually dissolves a thin layer of the acrylic and fuses the two pieces together. Superglue will make the joint turn cloudy. Epoxy would work but it will get on other parts and is hard to remove. There are different types of solvent "glue" for acrylic ranging from "water thin" to "thick gel". The easiest solvent "glue" to use for acrylic would be a medium consistency, use it sparingly so it doesn't ooze out everywhere. Something like this http://www.amazon.com/SCIGRIP-10315...406464282&sr=8-2&keywords=plexiglass+adhesive
