I understand that anything glass will always have a risk of breaking, but has anyone noted the glass tanks on the mini pro tank II as being exceptionally fragile?

I was looking into switching from the plastic CE4s to these to top the hubby's standard ego and my 1300mah winder, but my main concern is durability. His job can have the occasional rough and tumble moments, and so far his current setup has survived excellently, but I don't want to get him something that will crack or shatter at a moderate bump or slight external pressure and leak juice everywhere.

I've seen larger tanks made of slightly stronger Pyrex, but he prefers something sleek and concealable while on the job.

Thoughts?

I have used the PT2 Mini for a while now, and it's not broken yet. I'm not sure exactly what "the occasional rough and tumble moments" entails, but you might want to consider an Evod instead. They're plastic but use the same atty heads as the PTs.

He's...... in law enforcement. For the most part he keeps his in the car, but I know he'll stash it in his pocket when he's stuck on long calls. I have a black EVOD that he can use, but he got a taste of what juice is like in glass vs. plastic and naturally appreciated the improvement. :)

Meh. Worst case scenario, we stick with what he has for the time being.

I've got 2 pro tank II's and just had to order a new glass/pyrex for my first one. I've dropped them before and didn't have a problem. One morning after a rather long night of drinking, I woke up and it was cracked. It didn't leak but it did come apart when I took the tank apart. Overall they're pretty tough.

It's glass - any glass tank is subject to "poop happens". It just has to be the right kind of poop involving the right fall, onto the right surface, hitting the right point on the tank. The glass on the Dbox Puritank is thicker (no mini version though) but it's still exposed glass - see "poop happens."

There are a couple PV's out there that encapsulate things like a PT inside the PV itself but you really have to like that PV. Personally the couple I'm familiar with are just .... ugly.

If this is a serious concern in his work environment you should look at a Reo Mini. You can run those things over with a car and have it come out undamaged. They are milled out of a solid block of aluminum and the liquid feed system and battery is held inside the device itself. Short of the atomizer or carto of choice mounted on it getting ruined somehow, it's pretty impossible to damage the PV itself. A Reo Mini is about 2/3rd the size of a pack of cigarettes and very pocket friendly.

Smoktech ARO has a metal jacket;
might be harder to find though;
uses same heads as the protanks and evods.

Thanks everyone!!!

I was not aware that it was actually made of Pyrex, the kid at the B&M I was looking at was pretty adamant that they were regular glass and not pyrex.

I've found some better pricing online, I think I'm definitely going to give it a shot.

I am sure there are 'miniprotanks' out there that are cheaper glass than the original Kanger MiniProtank.
If you get the Miniprotank2, you can get replacement tanks

I love my Mini PT 2 but I have had the tube crack on me twice ONLY because after cleaning it and putting it back together, I tightened it too hard and it cracked. I've had my pen fall down maaaany times. Other than tightening the parts back together too tight will it crack. Luckily Desert Vapes has replacement pyrex tanks for $1.95. I have a few on back up just in case I do it again but I've learned.

well...this pyrex glass is durable and tough....I took my mod into KFC (they have ceramic tile floors) and it dropped out of my (too shallow) pocket onto the floor. The tank did break, but it wasn't the glass that broke but the chimney inside the tank.
I'd like to add that it was the ProTank 2 (not mini), but it'll be even harder to break the glass on the mini.

Have you tried PT heads. I've been told differently...that only T3 heads fit. If PT heads fit, I'm back in the market for these.

Oh; No I do not have them or anything; so if the Protank heads don't fit the ARO, then the ARO heads probably fit the protank then; the problem area is the space between the top of the coil and the center tube.
