I am not looking forward to teaching my public speaking class today. The last set of speech outlines that I graded were really awful, in general (there were a few exceptions). Far too many students didn't follow my oral and written directions for how to do the assignment. In addition, I gave all of them a model outline--the type of outline that I am expecting. Seriously, all they have to do is follow the model and they will do just fine. Sadly, most of them didn't even do that! But, here's the really kicker--four or five students plagiarized most of their outlines! I've lectured about plagiarism, given tips to avoid it, my "zero tolerance" policy on plagiarism is clearly stated on the syllabus, AND I warn them that I check for plagiarism. . . it's kind of unbelievable to me. So, I'm going into class irritated today, and it's likely that several students aren't going to be happy either. I imagine, too, that one or two will cry (literally) and say "I didn't mean to. . ."

I'm going to be happy when today is over!

Thanks for letting me vent!

1.

Good morning Tree Peoples.

Just got home from Dr. appointment and lunch.
My Dr. said he didn't know a lot about vaping. But he knew that it did contain nicotine, but NOT the tar and other carcinogens of cigarettes. He also said that "they" also now know that nicotine is not nearly as bad as previously thought. He was very happy that I was off the cigs. Actually he must have said that last part 4 times before I got out of his office.
