4. Yeah jpf, I know exactly what you mean...it's almost like my son would be better off without a job and going on Medicaid...at least then his insulin would be covered...and like your wife's prescriptions, his run really high too, around $500 a month! So he really needed that portion of the insurance he has now...there is just no way he can afford to pay $200 a month plus the $500 for a medicine that if he doesn't have it he'll die!

And Robin, as for the Affordable Care Act, that's a joke...we looked into that for him, and the best I could get him on that was like $400 a month for the same kind of coverage they're trying to force on him now, and it was for an insurance that no doctors around here accept, so he's basically screwed! The poor kid works really hard to try and support his family and he can't afford the medicine he needs to live...our lovely government at work again!

Count, I think I'll take that drink now!!!

After such a promising start, a sinus headache took me down for the morning. A little food, some aspirin, a decongestant, and a judicious dose of caffeine have brought me back--sort of. Two things I have going for me are some incoming vapemail (not to rain on anyone's parade, but I have an iStick coming: I used a gift certificate that I won in another contest over the weekend to subsidize it to a little over $20--not as good of a deal as some of you managed to swing, but still not bad) and another restaurant fundraiser for my kids' school--yes, alcohol counts toward the total (yay! drink for the children!).
Anything for the chil'ren! ;)

I don't drink very often Count but if it's for the Children I'm in.

I'm going into the Physical Rehab Hospital for a week or ten days. That way I can get 3 hours a day of practice and training while I getting 3 hours a week now. I'm excited and hoping for some real progress toward my goal of walking without a walker and eventually to walking with no aids at all.

So I might be scarce for a while, but hopefully I'll be lurking!

3. Ugh! I am so irritated right now! My son just called to tell me that they are changing his health insurance at the beginning of the year...right now he has really good insurance that covers his prescriptions with just a copay (he's diabetic so he has to have good prescription coverage!) and his Dr's visits and all, but they are changing it to where he'll still have to pay $200 month just to have insurance that doesn't cover anything at all until the deductible is paid, and that is almost $7000! Not even prescriptions or doctor visits...oh wait, he has to pay a copay to go, plus his monthly amount and then whatever tests the doctor orders he has to pay out of pocket...what the heck is the point of even having insurance if it doesn't cover anything!!!! :-x

They are doing to this to try to get all their employees to opt out so they'll be off the hook! They sent out a letter with it giving them all kinds of scenarios and how it's going to cost them sooooo much more to opt in for health insurance than to do without...this is just ridiculous! I told my son to tell them that isn't insurance and that no he doesn't want it...even with paying the dang penalty on his taxes, he'll come out cheaper just going without since he's going to have to pay everything out of pocket anyway...why pay $200 month just for that privilege! UGH!!!!:grr:

Ok, sorry for the rant...just needed to get that off my chest! Back to your regularly scheduled programming...nothing to see here!

Angel, I'm so sorry to hear this. It just makes me mad and upset for your son. My dad was diabetic and I know how expensive his meds were way back over 20 years ago. I hate the healthcare system we have.

We are in the same boat, my hubby pays $100 a week for his and it doesn't pay a cent until he reaches a $10,000 deductable. We had to drop it on me and my daughter b/c we would have to pay $200 a week and still it wouldn't pay anything until deductibles for each of us was met. Hubby's work wont let him drop his coverage, says he has to have it or he'll lose his job. So he's stuck paying for coverage he can't use, and we are paying bill collectors a little bit at a time for hospital bills b/c he has kidney stones a lot. Thankfully we have no life threatening illnesses or we would be toast. The ACA is a joke, we don't qualify for anything b/c my hubbys work "offers" insurance and the rules are set up in a way that makes it impossible for us to get insurance for daughter and I without paying tons of money each month. So we are stuck paying thousands in insurance for hubby, paying thousands in dr. bills and getting sued b/c we can't afford them and on top of all that, we will be paying a big old fine on our taxes for daughter and I not having insurance.

Sorry, the topic of insurance gets me wound up.
