Here I am, up at the crack of noon again. Having trouble getting to sleep and even more waking up...

In reality, I have been up for a while - we're trying to transplant a couple trees today. Pawpaws...

Vaping? I had to take the awesome Kanger Subtank off my mod and switch back to my Davide. At present, I only have 18-24 mg nic juice in the house and that's just too high for sustained vaping on that tank. Not to worry... some lower nic juices are coming courtesy of GMO and this wonderful, newfound community here... I decided to try absinthe, banyan, and tiramisu.

This wrecked sleep cycle has got me feeling poorly... not sick - too much of that going on right now - just off...

Think I'll nap...

I know the feeling. I woke up at noon feeling like I haven't slept in a month. My dogs aren't too happy about it either ;)

Glad to hear ur getting lower nic juice for ur Subtank. It should make all the difference.

Feel better!

My son is put out that his sister gets to go bicycle-riding down by the beach with some friends. Guess we'll just have to stop to get some ice cream later today... darn! :D

I can't even think about ice cream right now. It's cold cold cold. I'm sitting here waiting for the next snow storm to hit. Local meteorologists are saying it should be here in about 5 hrs :(

Washed out means no work, so not such a bad thing!!! But sadly it'll probably be a small freezing storm with work in the morning :(

So, the naps not happening. Bummer...

You've all been such an enormous help so far - pointing me to tasty juices and decent cigalikes - I thought I'd pick your brains again...

I'm shopping for a new mod. I want VV/VW, around 30 watts, pass-through vaping and charging, ability to fire down to .4 ohms.

I really like my iStick 20, so it's easy to knee-jerk my way into an iStick 30 (or 50), but I am unfamiliar enough with the market to not want to jump without some advice first.

I know YouTube has a metric ton of reviews, but I've started to take some of the reviews with a grain of salt... I've heard/watched some glowing reviews on some mediocre products...

Or, barring a recommendation to a product, tell me which reviewer you trust.

rhammer RR & I are on the West coast and we are getting slammed by the Pineapple express...so getting washed out is more likely to happen to us....I am hoping I can make it out shopping to get my groceries that I should have gone last week for some to make it through in case it happens....

Shawn I am not really able to help you with anything about those....I am using my own puck mod that I build and it can't handle anything like that...I am using "AAA" batteries and no VV/VW....just a straight 5V....so I am not even reading stuff about the sub....I won't be able to do it... I am very much set with what I do...I am not fond of those batteries...but I am sure someone else can help...(I just wanted you to know I was not ignoring you)

I know I found most of what I needed to know on YT.....I still look for info there....right now I am still looking for a peephole camera that I can install in my apt. door.....after that mail thing last week I am still leery about ordering anything large...but somethings will be sent in large boxes anyway..so I am not sure what to do about that....I think I am going to have to get one with a motion detector...but I am still looking at what's available....
Well Treefam it's about that time....I am going to have to get somethings done today....I might just get my shopping done today while it's in between storms....I am trying to talk myself into it....
Have a great day everyone...

Shawn, acquiring 30 watt box mods seems to be a common desire these days....

I'll state this first: if you want pass-through, I recommend something with a built-in battery. I, personally, do not trust devices that charge/pass-through with removable batteries. I'm sure the electronics are getting better, but if something were to go wrong and the battery start to overheat, I'd rather ruin a $20 charger than a $50 mod.

This leads me to a first consideration: do you want (or even own) removable batteries? If you choose a device that uses a removable battery, you will need to figure the cost for at least one (I'd recommend two) as well as a charger. There are benefits and drawbacks to this approach, so you will need to factor that into the equation.

I week or two ago, in the other thread, I posted my decision-making process for one 30 watt device that I purchased, comparing it to a couple of others (you can find it here). Since then, I know that Angel opted for one of the other devices, so perhaps she can fill you in on more about the device (mind you, it is the second version of the device that I looked at--that's how fast this industry moves). All of these devices have removable batteries.

For devices with built-in batteries, the only device that you could purchase today appears to be the iStick 30w. There is another device, the HeatVape Defender, which goes to 25 watts, but that's not much of a step beyond the iStick 20 you already have, so I doubt that would be of interest. I have both the iStick 20 and 30 and I will say that the 30w is better. Its biggest weakness, in my opinion, is the battery life: being the same size as the 20, it also keeps the 2200 mAh which could dwindle quickly with higher wattage vaping. For me, it is also just slightly (slightly!) too small for my hand (although, the plinth at the top does make it feel more comfortable than the original 20). That said, it is a pleasure to use and would make a great traveling device.

If you wait for a week or so, there are two other devices that may be of interest. The first is MVP 3.0. The MVP2 was a stalwart device for many of us over the past year. The MVP2 is literally built like a brick and provided a large capacity battery combined with steady power. The MVP 3.0 improves on this, bringing to the table 3800 mAh, the ability to hit 0.4 ohms and 30 watts, along with the ability to charge other devices like cell phones. Based on the track record of the MVP2, this should be a reliable device. It is larger, though: the older model is 9.5 x 4.0 x 2.0 cm and the newer model is larger.

Another device around the corner is the iStick 50 watt. While it has more power than what you're looking for, it is the same basic shape as your iStick 20--just larger and with a second rounded edge, with a trigger-like fire button. This device also comes with a 4400 mAh battery as well as all the improvements brought to the line by the 30w.

I am actually considering both devices for purchase: the MVP for my desk and the iStick for portability. But that's just me.

Hope this helps. I'll be available later this afternoon on the other thread if you have questions.

4. Shawn, Count gave you a very good answer to your question. As a matter of fact it was his research, and jpf's nudging ;), that led me to purchase the iPV mini 2 70W device. Unfortunately I can't give much feedback on it, as it developed a problem with 24 hours of having it and I'm having to send it back to the vendor for a replacement. However, that has not turned me off the device as it was not a common problem, but probably rather just a fluke. From what I've been able to determine in my reading, the iPV minis, both the 30W and the 70W, are very good devices. They do require a removable battery, but provide plenty of power and are not very big. If you look on the chat thread that Count referenced above, you can see pics of my iPV mini for comparison size to the iStick 20.

If you are looking for a device with a built in battery, I have to agree with Count. I don't think you could go wrong with the new MVP 3, as I had the 2.0 and it was a terrific device. Very reliable and I'm sure this new one will be as well. Also the new iSticks appear to be very good as well. So really it will boil down to a matter of personal preference of what you want in both style and the type of battery you prefer.
