PIF to @Slowone2

Right now it's beautiful here, high in the mid to upper 70's lows in the 50's. It's the one time I can brag about our weather.

I got home from work today and cut the grass and then had a delicious supper of roast, carrots and potatoes that slow cooked in the crock pot all day. Unfortunately Wifey is not having a good day so most of my evening will be taken up tending to her.

I just saw your post @anjelvape77, Prayers and Good Vibes coming your Families way.

PIF to @Slowone2

Still sending Prayers and Good Vibes for Bandit.

Count I can relate to the flat tire.

D2 update, I only used 1 battery so far today so my guess is that TC, lower ohm coil and chain vaping were the reasons for draining my batteries so fast. Today I'm very happy with the D2.

I don't like autumn for 1 reason, it means winter is right around the corner. I do like the weather and colors of fall but I dislike freezing temps and snow and ice on the roads which comes here shortly after. If it could snow and not get on the roads ( not because of me but other drivers that can't remember how to drive in it) and not get temps below 30 I'd be fine with it. Unfortunately I live in N.E. Ohio where that will not ever happen.

Thanks for the D2 update, glad to hear you're figured out the issue. I've been thinking about getting a new mod, will probably wait until Black Friday..... maybe.

I live in south central Texas, so if it snows here, it's a holiday. Everything shuts down, roads get closed, businesses shut down, just turns into a play day. :thumb:

Well, as you can see, I'm getting a real late start on the forum today, because...

...We have both been busting our buns working on Bandit all morning. Then a short break while Lannie took care of the other cows and managed to get new baby Crystal onto her big sister, Cricket, for milk, which somewhat deprived her own baby, but she is 5 months old now and she can handle not getting all the milk. Because Cricket is sustaining both babies, we are not taking any of her milk for ourselves. While Lannie was doing that, I was driving to the vet office in Faith (55 miles round trip) to get some equipment that "might" save Bandit's life. We had to stab her in the rumen and let all the gas out, then we put her on an IV drip of sugared meds, and now we are waiting to see if that has any effect. Have to run back out in a few minutes to see if we can get her up. Don't know whether or not I'll find time to be back on here until later tonight. More status report at that time.

EDIT: Thank you all for your prayers and healing energies. It is much appreciated.

9/23 - 5: TIOA sns 2 episode 5: The eye of the hurricane had passed, the worst of the storm was to come. The rain beat down harder than before, the wind as well. Many huddled scared, but there was no need the buildings Angel had built were able to take this on. Some looked out the windows and watched the storm, the lights still working. The wind was not strong enough to take down the building, but it was for the trees. Down fell one onto the main power line to the village, and out went the lights.

9/23 - 6: TIOA sns 2 ep 6: The storm was hitting hard, and soon to pass; but not yet. The lights out, some still scared. The buildings stood strong. The strongest of will got up and built fires in the fireplaces. Giving warmth and comfort to those in need. The wind howled hard, the lighting still burst in the sky. The new born fires in the fireplaces gave rest to many.

Good night all.

BANDIT UPDATE: Well, we worked and we worked and nothing was getting better. Then we noticed that Bandit was getting a layer of fluid between her skin and muscles and realized she had some sort of internal injury (obtained by what, we will never know). She was clearly in great pain and the meds we gave her were not helping. This was Lannie's first cow and the love of her [farm] life, so I was not willing to give up, but the only fix now would entail major surgery, which not only can we not afford, but I would also have to cut down many trees in order to get a trailer and winch back there to get her to a vet. Speaking of vets, we called the four nearest vets (27.5 miles, 48 miles, 75 miles and 90 miles from here) and not only would none of them make a house call, most of them refused to even try to make a diagnosis, one insisting that because she just calved, she clearly had milk fever and wouldn't even listen to our list of symptoms. Both Lannie and I know what milk fever is and this clearly was not it. Remind me to never even talk to that vet again. We made Bandit as comfortable as possible, then went to take care of the rest of the livestock and sit and have a vape while discussing our options in depth. Lannie decided Bandit was not going to be able to recover (which I had already decided, but kept my mouth shut) and asked me to put an end to her life. I didn't really want to do this, but I knew Lannie never would be able to do so. Many times I have heard that a man's job on the farm is to lift heavy things, fix broken things, and kill critters. Well......... Bandit is no longer in pain.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Sometimes things like this are done to slap us in the face, to show us that we simply cannot fix everything, and that sometimes it is time for a person (or animal) to move on. One of the beautiful things here is that I am now pretty sure Bandit had an ailment prior to giving birth to her latest baby (Crystal), but she stayed around until the baby was here, and even though I saw she was having a problem the day after the birth, she stayed for two days to guarantee that Crystal got the colostrum she needed to ensure a healthy immune system, and only then did she give in to her illness (or internal damage- whatever). Bandit knew us well, and she knew that we would take care of the baby. We could not give the baby a healthy immune system, but her mommy could, so she stayed long enough to do that. Once knowing Crystal was OK, Bandit left this realm. She had a long and happy life here at Love Acres. She will be sorely missed.
R.I.P. honey.

@jpbavaro - sending good vibes for you and hubby...hope everything is okay.

@Fuzzy Thunderbear - So sorry to hear about Bandit...I was afraid from the beginning that would be the outcome...having grown up on a cattle farm myself, I know all too well the things that can happen and that sometimes that is the most humane thing that can be done...at least Bandit is no longer suffering...sending (((HUGS))) for you and Lannie.
