Goblin Weed

Jealous of hobbits contentedly puffing their pipes in their cozy little hobbit holes the goblins have been scavenging the hedgerows and ditches for vegetation to create their own strong Goblin Weed. Amongst goblin folk this particular recipe is regarded as dangerously sophisticated but it is enjoyed by radical and free thinking goblins at literacy classes and other clandestine gatherings.

DK tobacco (TPA) 8%
Dark Vapure (F'art) 2%
Malted Milk (TPA) 2%
Graham Cracker (TPA) 2%
Brown Sugar (TPA) 1%
Caramel - regular (TPA) 1%
Coffee Espresso (F'art) 1%

Okay, okay, OKAY ALREADY :::grinning::: ...you had us at hello - err, 'jealous of hobbits'! So even though we've never even tried the DK or the Dark Vapure (but do have both), we're going to make this asap based on your stellar exordium. Anything that appeals to free thinking/radical goblins (at clandestine meetings, no less) certainly has substantial intrigue to us!

Questions:
--FA has several coffee flavors, but none specifically called "Coffee" - which one do you use/prefer?
--Did you use the 'regular' Caramel (or Caramel Candy? Caramel Original?)
--Steep time?

'Looks like it could be a major winner; we're looking forward to mixing/trying it!

Sorry, I should have been clearer. The Coffee I use is FA Coffee Espresso and the Caramel is the regular. Dark Vapure is a strong dark tobacco flavour that needs at least one weeks normal steeping before it even starts to blend with other flavours. This is a pretty full on recipe.

The best method I have found to speed up steeping of test mixes is to use a milk frother. You can get some idea of the mix within 24hrs and after 3 days almost any recipe is quite vapable. A forum mate Lordy demonstrates this in a youtube video Lordy's Ultimate DIY eLiquid mixing guide - Beginner to advanced - YouTube - use the video menu to jump straight to the steeping section.

Thank you, chrisss!

We assumed the Dark Vapure would be 'strong dark tobacco' needing thorough steeping from the aroma (and reviews we've read). I've been wanting to try the Dark Vapure, but haven't seen a recipe (until now) that I discerned had all the elements needed to be a spot-on-winner. (I'm intrigued by the malted milk element).

I'll definitely check out that video and 'milk frother steeping'. Even though we have/use a heated ultrasonic now, there's no such thing as too many kitchen appliances (yay!), or learning something new (yay again!).

By the way, welcome to ECF!

Thanks for the welcome. I hope the recipe works for you. I came to it by trial and error and the constraints imposed by the small range of flavors in my mixing box. The malted milk seems to soften tobacco harshness on the aftertaste. I have heard that the ultrasonics are good but a $5 frother is more within my budget.

'Made this yesterday (gave it 4, 30 minutes sessions in a heated ultrasonic for a 'fast steep')...and this blend has SERIOUS potential to be an all-out winner!

We don't care for "perique" and we sense the Dark Vapure is like 3/4 perique, some tobacco, and some cocoa. But we always find the aspect of the perique we don't care for (strong hay/grassy) tends to 'melt in nicely' and become a 'back note' after it's had a chance to steep.

If that's the case with this, we're excited to see how it's going to 'smooth together' in the next few weeks. We'll report back when we retest it.

Oh yeah, if you like periques, you're going to love this one right away!

EXCELLENT JOB, CHRISSS!
