Tired of these dry hits. I'm using a 6/5 wrap micro coil (.05 Ohm) with 24 gauge kanthal and organic sterile cotton balls for a wick and a Caravela mod. I fill through the fill hole, my wick should be just right, not to thick not to thin and touching the deck where the juice wells come up. After about 10 drags I need to unscrew the top cap a few threads, big air bubbles come up, then I'm good for another 10 drags. I have the intake screw adjusted tight because I like a stiff draw, and that also should allow more juice to enter but it doesn't. Other have had success slightly modifying the channels, maybe I will as well.

I have the exact same clone and it really does like to be above 1.2 ohm. I find the best vape around 1.5 to 1.8. If I want to sub ohm ill grab my tobh and let er rip. Also be sure not to use so much cotton that it blocks the channels. I have also found that using higher vg juice I have to back off the top cap every now and then to let an air bubble rise up and bam, dry hits gone.

I took my dremal and shaved out a little material at the end of the channels right at the base where the chimney screws on and that really helped. You could see it wasn't that smooth, now it is. 20 or so drags so far, no dry hits, and small bubbles come up after every draw which didn't before. I got a helios dripper i use too which is quad coil at .02 ohms. Anymore dry hits and I'll make a coil at least 1.2 ohms.

may look at doing the same then. however since I went ahead and got my Russian 91 v2 I have really not touched my 3.1 lol.

Do you have any idea how many amps a .05 ohm coil is pulling?

oh wow. I just noticed he said .05 lol I read it as .50. I thought half an ohm was really low but jesus. im surprised the kayfun will even fire at .05 with out tasting anything but burnt juice. are you using a 100 watt mod?? Anything below (IMHO) .6 ohm should be in a dripper with a TON of airflow. I don't mess with super sub ohm.

Even as low as 3 volts it's 60 amps & 180 watts

Quite a few I'd imagine. I got 40 amp batteries. I only been using sub-ohm build because the 7 or 8 kayfun videos I've watched on you tube, that was how they were all doing it so I thought that was the norm. Honestly I haven't really looked into the differences for vaping below 1 ohm or above 1 ohm. Been a case of monkey see monkey do I guess.

Please read up on ohm's law and how it relates to ecigs. In a mechanical at a full charge of 4.2 volts a .05 ohm coil is pulling 84 amps.

eta: Watch a few videos of what a lithium rechargeable battery does when it has a short circuit. A .05 ohm coil is a short circuit.

He said 24 GA.....6/5 wrap.......with a 2mm dial coil that yields .5 ohms. His. .05 is incorrect. I suspect the. .02 ohm Helios may be off also.

My bad. I meant .50. It's half an ohm

One if the key problems that can occur with using a Kayfun at very low resistance is the possibility of melting or damaging the deck insulator. I have read about it and have done it myself. You can get replacements at places like fatdsddyvapes but it is a PITA than can occur. I also find 1.2 to 1.5 ohms to be a sweet spot for my Kayfuns but I run them at 15 to 17 watts depending on the juice and build.
