Hi everyone,

I'm going to do a 5-day water-only fast to get closer to God.... I've been so attached to this world this past week and have damaged my relationship badly. I am doing this not as a penance for my sins but to condition myself away from those things that are separating me from God. I am going to focus on studying his Word and prayer during the fast. I'm asking for your prayers as I make this journey.

Thanks!
Kevin

Gashin I will remember you in my prayers. You have been there for a while anyway. It is so easy to get caught up in what is going on around us and not pay the proper amount of attention to God. He deserves all of our attention all the time. We all fail in this. I put the bible on my MP3 player. This helps keep me focused. I can listen to it any time I want and before I go to sleep at night. I should fast more too. When I pray I just talk to God like I was talking to my best friend, because I am. I hope you get support from a lot of Christian friends but He is our best friend and the only one we can count on all the time. I remember your thread about becoming a Christian. You have come so far since then. That was when I started praying for you. I am sure I am not the only one that started praying for you then. God bless you.and remember me in your prayers too.

Hi Kevin, I can sooo relate to you right now, I can tell you, you are not alone in this one. You are so right in that we all need to keep ourselves clean and unspotted from the world, that there be nothing that comes in between us and the Lord. I will fast with you, from those things that have held my focus and attention so much lately.

We are in the world, but not of it, we are still flesh & bone, able to be tempted, able to fall, and be mislead. We all need the Saviour and sometimes we need to separate ourselves from the world, and turn our ears and our eyes, and our soul, with all of our heart, turn away from anything that tries to take our time, our devotion, & our love away from the One it belongs to.

And it is good to be reminded of this fact, We need to encourage one another of His Love for us. After all, it was God who loved us first and chose us out the world. We have done nothing.

And there is nothing in this world, not one thing, that ever was, or ever will be, that is greater than or more important than Him and our relationship with Him.

He is worthy to be praised!!!
