Just ordered some 28ga kanthal, organic cotton wick, and an ohm tester from Amazon. Gonna rebuild some Aerotank heads as singles[emoji1]

How did you fill the gap? Extra cotton? I've seen people build oval shaped coils, too. I'd like to start experimenting with my mini protank 3, but thought i'd get others' input, too!

3mm diameter coil + flavor wick on top to fill the gap. I have tried cotton ball and rayon but had the most success with cotton yarn. 2 pieces through the coil (or one folded in half) and two pieces on top (or one folded in half). These days I just use a single piece to do it, then trim.

I rebuild my aerotanks heads.
The micro screwdriver I wrap the coils around is a very tight fit in the slot in the coil base . You just wiggle the screwdriver about half way down the slot and hold it there as you install the insulator and center pin.
I then remove the screwdriver and I use a slightly thicker wad of cotton. I trim the ends just a bit longer and fluff them out. I use the original silicone chimney seal since it's longer then a protank coil.

PS No flavor wick in the aerotank coil or the protank coils.
Takes a bit of trail and error to get the right amount of cotton

It shouldn't be too hard. I haven't tried to do my Aerotank mega coil yet, but I've done quite a few for our Protank 2 tanks.

For me it was really easy if I wanted to end up using a 1.5 Ohm coil as that's what my PT2 rebuilt coils seem to always come out at for me. But I don't know about other people, but for me when I first started to use cotton for the wicks, I noticed a definite nasty taste to the vapor. Not burnt, not dry, just... something different and unpleasant to me. So, now I've gone back to just buying the coils at the local B&M's around here. On the other hand, my wife doesn't notice any difference so she uses all the rebuilt coils on her PT2 minis seemingly almost as fast as I rebuild them.

i rebuild my aerotank coils in an oval shape. The first 20 or so i did by wrapping 28 awg kanthal around 2 drill bits. now i use a zip tie that is the exact size of the gap between the deck and the silicone chimney seal. usuely use cotton through the coil and no flavor wick. but now i have 500 ft of rayon to use up so the next batch ill try using that.

Just did one like that today that worked out great. Is it by chance your YouTube video that I learned from?

28 ga - 9 wraps on a 5/64 drill bit will give you right around 1.6 ohms which vapes real nice in Kanger tanks. I use a round toothpick to keep my coil in place, fits nicely in the coil and the base of the coil while you are building.

This is a great thread for rebuilding Kangers. It's huge but stick with it there is a ton of great information on the first 10 pages but all of it is REAL good.
