How long did it take you guys to build your first head successfully?

spent about 3 hours and within that time made 2 heads. The first one was hell so I started over. Second one was 2.11 ohms but it gurgles and taste funny.

Wish I knew what I got into before I started this since I wasted half my night. Thinking if I should head to the local gun shop and get a 12 gauge or something and shred my e cig to pieces

LMAO, i have thrown more atties, then I care to admit. I started rebuilding on my wife's vivi nova, and my aga-t2. Both drove me crazy then i started watching several youtube video's on rebuilding and it just started getting easier. I also allotted myself a time limit to fiddle each night otherwise I got annoyed and had trouble sleeping.

Thats smart lol. Wish I had a counter on how many times I threw F bombs. I got myself so stressed lol

Go to youtube channel Rip Trippers. That guy knows this rebuilding stuff like the back of his hand. I watched, then I went to my vape table and looked at the stuff. Then I watched more. lol I build my first Kanger Aero tank head and it worked! Key with organic cotton is after you thread it threw the coil is to fluff it back out, no leaks.

I don't know how many tries were involved, I got pretty lucky the first few times I tried, but I think it took me a few weeks to actually get competent at it. It's a learned skill, like anything else.

I have a ton of cotton in it lol
Silica might be better? I have both

A "ton" of cotton is too much. It takes a little practice to get the hang of how much cotton to use. If there's too much cotton, you can either choke off the wick or have too much liquid trapped in the cotton to properly vaporize it. Too little, and the wick dries out almost as soon as you fire your APV.

Never rebuilt a Protank before, but as for rebuilding in general, it took me about 4-5 tries before I had that long, sought after vape that everyone was talking about. Or at least what I wanted - Which was good vapor, supreme flavor, nice TH, and not too many problems overall. I keep both 28 and 30 gauge Kanthal on hand as it cheap, and I have TONS of cotton and silica. I shoot for .6 - .8 Ohms in my mechs, and about 1.5 ohms in my VV/VW devices. Ahhh, rebuilding is soooo great!

Just like anything and everything else you want to sucseed in, practice makes perfect. Practice, practice, and more practice. Do not worry, as you will find it gets much more easier than it seems to be now. You WILL master it and figure out new easier ways to do so. And will be building your coil/coils in less than 2-5 min.
:) good luck!

What does having lower ohms do compared to high ohms?

Depends what you're doing. Traditionally it was a way of getting a hotter vape and more clouds with rebuildable atomizers and mechanicals, but with some of the experimentation being done with micro and nano coils, and use of stuff like ribbon wire (and combinations of ribbon/round, multiple strands of both), and mods that can pump out serious wattage, it's really not necessary to go sub-ohm for a big throat hit and big flavor anymore.

Doing "standard" coils, generally speaking, lower ohms = warmer vape, higher ohms = cooler vape.
