Good Clearomizers / Atomizers / Tank or Wick Setups for Thicker Juices?

So, I've been vaping for about a week now. I have some standard 650 eGo batteries and a 1000 eGo Twist.

I've tried out several different juices, with different ratios, and so far my favorite is a pure VG 24.

I've also tried out a few different clearomizers, starting with some off-brand top-coil plastics and now a Kanger mini Pro 2. I also have the stupid little leaky plastic tanks that came with my eGo starter kit.

-------------

The Good:

I basically spontaneously quit smokes (almost) like the first day I had my setup... smoked two that day, and only 1 each day since. Had been smoking a carton of Marbs/week.
:2cool:

----------

The Problem:

Of the juices I've had, I like the pure VG best -- is less... "fluffy"... for lack of a better word -- and the one I've settled on for my ADV is Johnson Creek's Kiln House, Gold Reserve in the 2.4% (24). It is really thick, syrupy. And it is not vaping very well in the Protank Mini, nor in my other clearos. It does vape very well, great volume and taste with no latency, with the Type-A Joye atomizer... but then I'm using these stupid tiny tanks that will leak juice all over everything at some point, most likely sooner rather than later.

I really wanted to like the Kanger: the atomizers are very cheap, less than half the cost of the Joye Type-A; the tank looks great on my eGo batts (everything stainless steel); and of course it's a bottom-coil, which is supposed to work good for thicker juices (I've been told). I know for sure that it takes less priming than do the top-coils I have. But, I've just burnt the first coil, in less than a day. From what I've read here, this may be due to the fact that I'm pulling to frequently, and the 2.5 coil can't handle it... I'd test it with a lower resistance coil, but the pack my mini Pro came in had a 2.5 and a 2.4... so not much difference. I've been running the 2.5 atomizer at about 3.95v, which seemed to give me the best vapor.

So I'm considering ordering a Joye eGo-CC clearomizer tank, which will work with the Type-A atomizers I have; from what I can tell they have a wick assembly that works well with the juice I'm vaping (the short, vertical single wicks), at least with the Joye tanks.

Are there any other options? Will a lower resistance coil help solve this problem in my mini Pro? Is there something I can do to prevent the 2.4 coil from burning? Higher voltage? Mess with the wick? I have to order the eGo-CC online, which will take a while to get here, and I'm loathe to use the plastic Joye tanks until then...

Any advice would be welcomed and appreciated.
:)

"pure vg" would mean you are only vaping usp grade VG. and that is not the case. there is nicotine, flavoring, VG, distilled water and or grain alcohol
what vendors use is distilled water and or PGA or pure grain alcohol to thin the VG only e-liquid down to the point it will absorb into the wick fast enough to prevent burning.
you can try adding distilled water, start with one drop per mL. the most i would add is 3 drops per mL.
you can can also try removing one or both "flavor wicks" from the kanger coil heads, but this might cause some leaking issues.

in my protank mini 2 i use 1 flavor wick (removed the other flavor wick) %85 vg - %10 distilled water - %5 flavoring in PGA.
then i evaporate off the PGA with heat and mixing.
or you can just let the batch sit with cap and dropper off (out of reach of children and pets) for 2-3 days, this will also evaporate off the PGA.

If your eliquid is very thick, you may try to dilute it with a drop or two of distilled water (per ml) or some PG. Or you can gently remove one strand of the flavor wick.

Watch how Phil does it--at 25 min.
Ah

Thanks very much. I will try that on the new coil.

I vape VG and really like the PT2 mini but I find it essential to switch the wick out to organic cotton. It also needs a fresh wick every couple of days or when I change to a completely different flavor group. Works like a charm.
Is there any way to get it to vape properly with a standard eGo batt (at 3.3v)?

In terms of mixing my own juice, can flavors be dissolved in a base other than alcohol? I assume I can use any alcohol-based tincture, but what of other bases?

Took one of the wicks out of the new atomizer on the mini Pro 2. So far, so good. Definitely a better vape. Also, totally broke-down the clearo and cleaned the whole thing.

The flavor is still very much not as full or clean as it is with the Joye tanks and the Type-A atomizer.

I can see now how to rebuild the coil/wick on the Kanger atomizer. Does anyone know if the same can be done on the Joye Type-A?

Yes, you just need to use a lower resistance coil--1.5Ω, 1.8Ω and 2.2Ω coils are all suitable for regular eGos, depending on how warm you like your vape. the 1.5Ω will give you the hottest (most powerful) vape (7.25 watts).
