Low cost, won't kill you to take out and have something get lost or break, would be one of the liberty-flights Riva 510 kits. I personally like them with boge 2 ohm cartos, though others like different things.

If you want something light, able to be used hands-free, an automatic KR808D-1 kit can fit the bill. NHaler, vapor4life (their vaporking are 808), vaporsetc. are a couple of the many vendors who carry them. I started with 808 standard, quickly shifted to the XL/Mega battery, was happy with them for several months, particularly when I'm mowing, snowblowing, other things where I need both hands but still like to be able to vape similar to when I smoked.

Hi ob,
I'd recommend an eGo/Riva/Tornado type kit. The batteries are decent to good (1000maH), and the parts (510) are interchangeable for all practical purposes. And they don't scare off children and nervous peopls that easily :)

The USB pass-throughs are good. You can vape and charge at the same time (at the computer, though...).
And the investment is reasonable.

And if you just want a plain white or steel color KR8 check LiteCigUSA.net and VaporLeaf.com - good prices and both have cheap shipping. Use regular (not LR) cartomizers with it. I recommend manual batteries.

Best selection of prefilled cartos is at Vapor4Life.com and they have a lot of samplers. If you like tobaccos they have 3 samplers - I have only used cartos from the WOW Tobacco sampler so far and I like all 3 I tried so far (one enough to buy the juice too). Get some juice - you can refill them - and you could probably refill any flavor with a nice tobacco or vanilla (I like Backwoods Brew Vanilla Bean - on my 4th day of refilling a V4L carto with it). And always bring a spare carto or two if you go out - occasionally there is a dud though many of those can be fixed by carefully and evenly lifting the inner circle of the threaded end a bit.

To see a quick refill method for these (and some other) cartos search Ebay for Taryn Spin and watch both videos.

refilling note - take the carto off the battery - I hold a tissue on the threaded end if filling by taking out the mouth-end cap and dripping down the inner sides while rotating it. When done I make sure the threaded end is dry then puff lightly in the threaded end to clear the air channel of any juice.

This will be a useful PV even after you get your better one. The standard batteries give better charge life (280mah) vs most other ~120mm minis (180mah).

I would recommend against the basic 510 kit, but only because you've had experience with a decent PV. I'd also recommend a 3.7v device of some sort, but it's all dependent on what you're looking for as your go-between. I recommend the 510 thread, but on a Riva/eGo kit, or (even better IMO) a mod like the Prodigy v3.1. If you've had an Ali'i, you won't need to buy all new batteries as the Prodigy takes 18650s and 16340s (RC123a). Here's a link: The Prodigy V3.1

I don't have a box mod but after looking up the ali I believe it takes the 18650 batteries if i'm correct! If that's the case you may buy a cheap box mod that takes the same battery the ali will have that way you have the batteries and charger in place when you do snag one so will reduce your cost! The mod's usually sell fairly well in the ECF classified's after you do get the ali you could probably get some of your cash back on it and keep the batt's and charger!
Just my 2 cents!

I'd go with the big daddy from kens box mods. As Hrt said you'll already have the batt and charger when you do get the Ali'i and it's available in 3.7 or VV. I'd personally recommend the vv version.

Or if you're wanting to go a lil cheaper the maxi roughstack or gold rush from madvapes takes a 18650. The Gold Rush is a nicer looking tube made from acrylic where as the maxi roughstack is a steel tube that's nothing to look at but very durable and you won't have to worry about dropping it or dinging it up.

I have not had a Ali'i. I am going to be purchasing one.

Oh, I must have misread that. lol Sorry. Still, the Prodigy v3.1 runs the same batteries, and I forgot about the fully furnished Gold Rush at Madvapes, so thanks Nomoreash for posting that! I'm a big fan of MadVapes, so I'm sure the Gold Rush should be worth it's price ($46). I'm actually considering picking up one myself sometime this month. I really want to try the 18650s.

Here's the link for the Gold Rush: Gold Rush Tube Mod

Now that is a great post and advice! Love the KR8 and the V4L guys are great. Try Backwoods brew for refilling or with blanks.
