Good Torch For Oxidizing Wicks?

I am new to the rba stuff. I do not have a gas powered stove. I am looking to buy a (butane?) torch for oxidizing SS and fiberglass wicks. Can anyone suggest a good one that has a reasonable price tag? I was looking on ebay and there are a million of them with a wide price range. I just don't know what I do or don't need.

A lot of people use a kitchen torch. One that a chef would use for making crem brulee(sp) I just use a bic lighter, lol

i use a mini benzomatic from home depot think i payed like $25 works great.

If you can go to a local corner store and get a "censored pipe lighter" Sorry mods but that's what their called. It's a wonderful little torch. Just a small little powerful pocket lighter that produces a really hot flame. Just got through using one on my first ss wick. Worked wonderful.

Oxidizing fiberglass with a torch? I would think a butane torch would just set it on fire

Bic lighter. Works every time.

Whoops I didn't see the part of fiberglass. I'd never ever use fiberglass for a wicking material. That stuff will kill you really quick. Stainless Steel or cotton, (maybe the other wicking material, Can't remember the name right now. Oh yea Silica.) Never Fiberglass.

yea save the fiberglass for stove gaskets were it belongs,its to fragile and makes to many fine dust particles to really be safe for you.
