Got a lock for my freezer

I have a small chest freezer down in the basement where I store my nic. I also have two kids. They hardly ever go down in the basement, but the 6 year old wanted Popsicles the other day and insisted that I go look downstairs in the chest freezer (there were no Popsicles in there). This got me worrying. I don't think they'd over go down there and start tearing open packages or opening bottles, but who knows?

I got this hasp and this lock.

I probably could have done this cheaper if I had gone to Home Depot and gotten a random hasp and some glue, but I didn't want to have to think about it. The glue/adhesive on the hasp I got seems to be very strong, and the lock is easy to open with a combination of my choice.

I just thought I'd post this here in case anyone else has similar concerns.

That's a very good idea. I don't remember being six, but I do know I had been in pretty much every drawer, closet, etc when I lived with my parents. (And boy, the things you find...)

Yes, they get into everything! I already have my working nicotine (bottle I actively use) in a lock box, but I hadn't gotten around to figuring out the freezer situation.

Nice thinking, although all my kids are grown, the grand kids would be an issue with my NIC when they come over. Guess im going to have to think about his myself.

Nice! I guess I got lucky when I bought my deep freezer....I came with a lock built in.

Good thinking, better safe than sorry. I don't say it often, but fear that someday we will read in the newspaper an innocent kid getting hurt by someones DIY supplies.
