Im excited to have my 1st little box and want to make sure i dont screw up the battery. Seems i read somewhere there is are certain memory in these things and if i dont charge right the first cycle it will never last as long as it could. So its brand spanking new coolfire 4 and it has already almost a full charge, should i charge it all the way or burn it down into dead and charge?
This seems like a stupid question,lol....but anyone know what im talking about?
I will be doing my happy dance in the meantime cos I GOT A NEW TOYYYY

That's awesome Dawn! My 1st box is in the mail. I will say this from other electronic experiences, not from e-cig batteries although they are the same type as the ones I do know about. I would say use it out of box w/o charging it fully unless the manual says other wise... At a point in time the battery was fully charged for QC purposes and over time it discharges. If your mod battery is almost fully charged it is probably pretty new assuming these batteries discharge on idle the same way other types that are similar do. And if you can monitor the battery life, bring it down to 20%-ish **I think someone here will know to what exact % for mod type batteries** and then charge it full.

I've done some "tests/experiments" with some of my RC batteries (same brand and batch) and I found that letting them run down initially and then charging them fully prolongs usage and over all life, assuming you don't let it charge overnight or with a wrong type of charging method.

What Wraith said ^^^ Better to not let it drain all the way.

Oops.. guess they preform better in docile setting as opposed to my airplanes which crash into the ground at 75 MPH and the battery gets thrown 10 feet LOL

Sorry guys and thanks for the info on charging these newly acquired mods properly :)

Congrats on the new purchase Dawn!
Keep the battery between 3.6v and 4.2v, and don't let it overheat, and you'll stay out of trouble.

@ThroatPunch, I'm an R/C guy too. The lipos' we use for that are a different animal than the vaping batteries. They're made to dump hard for just a few minutes, and to recover quickly. And when they fail, it's assumed they won't be right next to your face. As far as charging, I've had good luck treating them the same way as the vaping batteries though. :)

Do most mods have a LVC now a days? (low voltage cutoff) Only asking cause I would think with something like a mech mod (I know close to nothing about them) due to their simplicity in hardware components (I think LOL) won't have a chip or whatever monitors voltage other than the users themselves, keeping them in the said voltage range.
