Got Blu cigarettes, not a fan, looking for alternative

Hi everyone!

This is my first post so I'll give a little background on myself. I've been a smoker for the past 8 years and started on Camel Lights. Moved on to other types such as reds, turkish royals, various types of menthol, and the flavored cigarettes. I like techie gadgets and smoking so when I got word of e-cigarettes I decided to try them. I'm also a huge fan of different flavors. Currently, I'm still smoking Camel 99 filters at half my normal rate.

Personal review of Blu:
Size: Good. Shaped like a real cig.
Charge time: Seems pretty fast but I have nothing to compare it to.
Battery life: Average. It seems to work much better on a full charge and then tapers off as time goes on before it needs a recharge.
Smoke: Not enough. First few puffs are great and then little to nothing.
Flavor: Not enough. Just like the smoke it starts strong and then goes to nearly no flavor and almost to a "burnt" taste.
Life of nicotine pack: I can't really tell because the flavor just isn't there after a first few uses. Classic tobacco and Menthol last the longest and Java, my favorite, barely lasts at all.

I'm looking for a new e-cigarette that gives more flavor, smoke, and is portable so I can take it to class during the day. Blu cost me $50-70 so I'm prepared to spend that again on another kit and hope it will be better. One of the Blu cigs fell into a drink so it seems out of commission; that's just more incentive to try a new brand.

Personal suggestions are welcome! =)

WELCOME to ECF Nate!

Cut and past from my last post to someone else looking:

This is a great price on a full kit (no box) for a true Joye 510 (avoid clones at this point, imo). Some 510's go for $58+. This is $35.
Joye 510 NO BOX

Suggest picking up some Ecopure Rich or Regular as well - it's a high quality VG and the vapor it produces really shows off with the 510 atty. Over $59 total, gets you free shipping.

ECOpure juice

other choices in liquid:
Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.

The Joye 510 aka Dura C, yeti, titan but all the same. There are other 510's out there now that aren't Joyes and for now I suggest avoiding them. There's been some problems with switches/buttons. What others here have chosen:

Thanks for the quick reply!

I've been browsing youtube videos for the past few days and had a bit of an information overload. It made me feel bad to realize ecigs were at CES 2009 and I completely missed it; I'm watching CES 2010 at the moment.

The "PG" and "VG" versions of the liquid are a little confusing.

Do they make flavors that are the same as normal cigarettes? My roommate wants to try ecigs for health and monetary reasons but strayed away because my classic tobacco flavor was nothing like his normal cigarette flavor.

Hey Thx to this forum and great advice :) I have my 510kit coming from Cignot I mean due to reviews and the price. Who could freakin beat it man! I also bought some eco bottles of juices :) I am so very excited as Green Smoke really let me down. Their now trying to make thing's right, but I don't know about them. Their carts are the same way ugh like full flavor then nothing then burnt. At 15 a pack they don't last long before the burnt taste. I almost went with Blu as a back up. Being a newbie I am glad this forum directed me into better e-cigs! Waiting on 4 different orders and a nice cc bill!! HAHA! I should be stocked for a while. Plus I wanna give some to family and friend's if I can get em into it. I will start buying them the 35kit from cignot if I know they will Vap! Blessed Be all!

Reading through more of these threads it seems like starting on Blu wasn't the best idea. =(

There is certainly a lot of information on this website about vaping (that's the term for ecigarettes?) and I love the fact that there's a huge community for it. This'll take me a while to digest. I plan to figure out exactly how these fancy little devices work so I can explain it to everyone around campus who asks.

Basically on PG and VG - VG gives more vapor. In it's pure form it is thick so it needs to be cut with distilled/deionized water or pure grain alcohol. PG is more widely available in many flavors but that's changing.

No ejuice can simulate entirely, the flavor of 'tobacco combustion' so while some juice flavors can get close using tobacco extracts, it's not going to be the same - iow, no tar, no carbon monoxide, etc.

Most juices have a tobacco base with some flavor added. Here's my take:

Kent from Nhaler is, for me, a close match to a light cig. The plain 'tobacco' flavor aka 'DKTAB' or TOB can be just the tobacco flavor no added flavor notes although ymmv on that. Try samplers first - saves money and you don't end up with 20 or 30ml of stuff you simply won't use.

Taste buds will be coming back to life soon and you will notice an improvement in flavored e-Juice.

Since I just started vaping I am basing my fact on the many times I have quit tobacco (years sometimes) and the taste and smell of food becomes profound.

Good luck and look to this forum for support. This is one of the few forums I have participated in where your questions are not treated as dumb.
