juice: MBV Bavarian Cream
PG/VG: 65%/35%
Strength: 24mg
Bottle Size: 50ml
Price: $11.49
I placed an order with MBV on the recommendation of vincentk18 based off of price and the "Made In America" aspect of MBV's juice. I was scouting around the site and found their Bavarian Cream flavor. I didn't bother doing the $4.99 small bottle; I figured I'd go big or go home for the price, and I absolutely could not be happier with it.
What struck me when I first started filling a fresh, unused cartomizer (I ordered 5 Boge SR 510 XXL cartos so I wouldn't mix the new flavor and the old juice that I had) was how quickly the liquid soaked into the wicking material. With my previous Firebrand Cyclone LR cartos, I had to drip 5 drops, let it sit on top until it soaked through (which sometimes, even after an overnight sitting, it would never do). As near as I can tell, the wicking material is slightly less tightly wound in the Boge than in a Firebrand Cyclone LR, since the Boge is specified to hold less liquid as compared to the Cyclone but is a larger length carto. That being said, the Boge actually held more liquid in drops than the Cyclone does (Cyclone LR: 21-30 drops, Boge: I stopped dripping after 35). My only issue with the Boge is that it feels like it almost has too little resistance, which I would think hinders the creation of epic clouds like I sometimes got with the Cyclone LR. The cartridge is solid, however, and will be a regular buy for me. I think I'll try dripping until it stops absorbing next time to see if that increases the cloud size.
On to the juice: I had read a lot of reviews for this specific juice on MBV, and decided on the above formula (as far as VG/PG and flavor shots) based off of a review that said it was good to go right out of the mailbox with that particular consistency. There were a lot of people talking about needing to let it steep for two weeks, it being too sweet, etc. Quite frankly, I tend to be a bit too impatient with that sort of thing, so I went with a formula that worked for someone else. I filled a carto, let it sit to fully absorb into the wick, screwed it onto my manual Firebrand Millennium Express Manual 510 battery and took my first puff. Before I even finished the drag, I started to taste a familiar flavor building on my pallet: Cream. Now, when it comes to Bavarian Cream, I'm a bit of an aficionado. I love it. I was worried that it wouldn't work out (as a lot of times, the "this tastes like that" formula doesn't usually work out). Boy, was I ever proven wrong. I finished the first drag and let it sit in my lungs for a moment before exhaling. The creaminess from the initial inhale (I do lung hits, so the fact that I could taste it so well was a feat unto itself) lingered, to be joined by more creaminess with hints of toasted marshmallows and vanilla.
And to top it all off, because I ordered a large enough bottle, MBV made good on their deal to send a free 15ml bottle of liquid with 80/20 PG/VG, 12mg nicotine level Rainbow Sherbet flavor. As I'm cranked up and used to 24mg, it won't do much for me from the nicotine standpoint but it might be a nice, laying in bed watching a movie flavor vape. Haven't cracked it open and tried it yet, but I most certainly will at some point soon.
CONCLUSION:
I love the flavor that I used to buy from Firebrand. It's delicious but expensive for the amount you get (~$18 after shipping for 40ml). The Cyclone LR from Firebrand is a wonderful cartridge, just not for $12.00 or a pack of 5. Those two things being said, given the price, quality and sheer volume of gear and juice that I can get for the price they ask... I highly doubt that I'll be placing any more orders with Firebrand. vincentk18 opened my eyes to the wider world of vaping suppliers that exist outside of what I had used and was comfortable with, and I could not be happier in the slightest.
