Ditto... My GF and I were about ready to order ourselves one and I have been trolling these threads... Kinda leery now :(

Don't let a few problems reported here stop you from buying this. It's only been a couple out of the hundreds sent out. Steve and Casey have always made them right in the end. And they will this time.

This seems to be a quality control and manufacturing tolerance issue with 510 atomizers.
Check out some other forums with newly released models and you will see many more complaints about everything from faulty switches to batteries overheating to adjustment screws snapping off.

This is a solid piece of equipment at the top of it's class in 3.7v and PureSmoker has first class customer service.
You will not regret buying a Protege :)

Oh, I don't regret ordering one and can't wait to get it!

I'm also glad I ordered a spare 510 adapter. Improves my odds that one of them will be nice and snug and work well with my attys.

It does sound like there may be a QC issue with the 510 adapters, but I'm sure PS will make it right :)

I think it's more a QC issue with the 510 atomizer. Many people have reported that one 510 atomizer works and another doesn't on the same device. I believe each adapter is tested at PureSmoker before it is sent out. This leads me to believe it's QC at the atomizer factory. Just my opinion. :)

Yes, I'm sure at least some of the problems are non-standard attys.

But is it the atty wiggling on the adapter, or the adapter wiggling on the Protege? The latter would be an adapter problem.

Here's the thing with the center posts-

EVERY single adapter is tested before it goes out with one of the 510 attys that we sell. We can tap the post up a bit more, but there's no guarantee that it will be perfect for the 510 atomizer that you're using. It really doesn't take much to tap the post- do you have maybe a wrench or some sort of tool that's a bit heavy? I tapped one down using a pen cap (broke off that little pocket hanging piece) and the head of a wrench. Let me know if you can't do this, and then we'll have to have you send it back to us to tap it up.

Walrus stated that the true joye510 attys u sell are unlike any other true joye510's. And u say; u only tested the adaptors w/ the ones you sell?

If what Walrus said is true....

They should have been designed to work w/ the basic true joye510 attys.

If not....

Maybe this device should be marketed as a Puresmoker510 Protege and not a joye510 protege.

I don't know how many of these units are out there in people's hands yet, but I am not reading a lot of positive comments about it's performance........how does it vape? Being a good looking unit is important, for sure, but......I care a lot more about how well, and how consistantly it hits.

Anyone???

I will likely have mine tomorrow and will gladly share.

Here are a few of the comments I've made...

"Using 901 as I type. Very nice throat hit. Good vapor, good flavor. Feels great in my hand.
I think I'm gonna love it."

"I don't have the Prodigy. I never felt the need to try 5v and certainly won't now that I know what 3.7v is capable of."

"Throat hit is very nice and I'm using 8mg with a cart. Much better than standard battery.
Throat hit is even better when dripping but I'm not really into dripping. It always made such a mess before. Who knows, now with this adapter I may have to give dripping a second chance."

PureSmoker sells "true joye510's" that are different from true joye510s??? That doesn't make sense unless joye makes a special atty just for PS. Unlikely but possible

This is my favorite PV EVER and I love it. Have used it all day today and haven't touched anything else. All running on one batty. I love it. It vapes incredible and consistent hits for hours on end.

 One here!
Second day relishing the Protege w/910 adapter: Excellent Vape, full flavor and extremely consistent hits with ample vapor (a very happy medium between the Prodigy at 5v and standard 510/901 manual battery performance), got about 7.5 hrs from battery today with steady out and about vaping....although I will expect less while chaining vapes at comp/ECF . Amazed at how much smaller the unit is in hand as compared to expectation from pictorial previews. Switch feel and performance are every bit up to expectation.
Minor irritation with end cap threading (hoping for smooth breakin as with Prodigy), and the etching under the switch though a very pleasant accent feels a bit raw right now on mine. Overall I can only RAVE and hope that those 510 issues will be quickly resolved so that all new Proteges will be as satisfying as I am finding mine. 510 is great on my Prodigy and I have yet to find an atomizer that did not work w/ the 510 adapter in my receipt (from new batch shipped early Sept) longer post?
Puresmoker is achieving a complete roster of Vaping options capable of satisfying the entire gamut of preference and circumstance. I for one am gladly counted as an appreciator...... and also a fan of the new Casey pic. Thanks to Steve and the crew for all the all the hard work.... and hair pulling.

Now that is the kind of feedback I was looking to hear. Thank you guys!

I too got the 901 adapter with mine. I already had a 510 and 801 adapter from my PT, and was hoping to use them on my Protege and I will have all 3 that I can rotate and decide which suits me best for the Protege. I have not used anything but 510,801 and 401 attys. Each have their own positives. But I am looking forward to being able to try the 510/801/901 all off of the same power source to do a more fair comparison. Should be coming today............. Woohooo!!!!!!

You can definitely do that, and that's what's cool about the Protege, BUT, I think when he gets the solid stainless adapters up for sale, I'm probably going to order one in a 901. The aluminum ones from the passthrough are just so much softer and I want the solid SS because you have to be so VERY careful and gingerly thread on the soft aluminum ones or you could strip it really easy. Steve even forewarned us of that and I can totally see it.

There is not really a whole lot to go wrong with these except the switch, which can easily be replaced, the end cap spring, which an end cap can be replaced, and any adapter issues, which can be taken care of. It's durable as heck and so solid and awesome. I'm going out all day to work today, so this will be my first day just leaving with just the protege, a bottle of juice, a spare atty and a spare batty. No more hauling around my huge pack of crap. lol

Aren't the adapters up for sale now the stainless steel ones?

Yeah, I think she was referring to using the ones that many of us have from the Puresmoker PT. They fit, but are made with the softer aluminum. My 901 that comes with my Protege should be the new type of adapter, but my others are the aluminum. I am sure once I decide which atty I like best, I will be ordering a backup adapter or two in the SS.

They do appear to be up for sale.
