Hi, i just got a smoktech sid (15w max and 4amps, 6 volts) and 510 vaper. so far i like it, maybe i will move up to another, if i like vaping further. but the problem is i don't know which tank to get? i'm a really newbie at this!

i'm looking at the "ELEAF GS-AIR M 4ml" it has 1.5 ohm. how do i know which ohm to get? and what does the ohm has to say? right now on the vaper display it shows 2.5 ohm with a ceo4 tank, i bought on a stupid market here in norway.

i also bought a YOUDE AGA-T7 (RBA), but i failed to make the coil, because i broke some parts of the coil (coil was to weak i think) so now it too low resistance, and tells me "low load" on display.

i'm also planning to buy a kanthal wire 0.5mm 24 gauge. i don't know if i'm ordering the right stuff here? i feel like i'm off the seat as a newbie right now. that's why i'm asking for your help guys. which tank to get? which ohm should i have? and what kanthal to get? the site i'm ordering from here without paying extra tax fees is dampshop. (no)

If you prefer to vape like smoking a cigarette, I would recommend the aspire Nautilus Mini. It's a good started device, and can work on a good variety of mods and batteries. There are also other options on the market now that are AIO, and as such, might be more friendly to beginner vapers. Some of these are the Nebox by Kangertech.

The "Low load" you are seeing is because the coil's resistance is too low for your device to be able to fire it. For example, a 1.5 coil only needs about 10w to fire, but a 0.5 coil needs about 20w. your battery is a 6 volt battery, so in order for it to be able to fire a coil, that coil's resistance cannot pull more than 6 volts. A coil with a low resistance, say 0.5 for example, needs more than 6 volts at 15w (your battery's max wattage) to fire. Therefore, you get the error message "Low load".

Instead of Kanthol, I would recommend Nichrome 80, it's softer than Kanthal, but it is easier to reposition it when building coils because of this, and it has less ramp time. This means that it should be easier to build with, be less springy when building coils, and will require less holding down a button to get a good vape.

Congrats on putting down the stinkys!

Welcome to the forum. :)

Thanks guys! for the reply and help here! i'm going to try out the Nautilus mini as you suggest. yes i prefer from mouth to lung, but can also take direct lung. so a 1.0 ohm coil would be good for my 15w, 6v SID?

What kind of Nichrome should i buy? 18, 20 or 22g?

Yeah i actually quit smoking like a year ago, but i missed it when i drank alcohol or coffee, and i usually use swedish snus, which made my gums a bit sore because of the acid in it, and afterwards it was too weak, and felt like paper.

I thought tanks, give more vape clouds? as i really like the idea of blowing alot of smoke. thank you for the links! i will read as soon as i have relaxed a bit. restless right now! and i have problems often with reading long texts.

aha! okay! i found that 1.5 ohms would be perfect on my RBA. and that 1.6 and 1.8 ohms are nice for that aspire mini.

the problem would be now, since i know all the measurements for my RBA coil. how do i measure it? do i need a caliper? or would a normal measurement band be alright?

and i found some 28 gauge nichrome wire, but how do i know which series it is? it doesn't show any type of series there :/

Are you asking how do you verify that your build is ACTUALLY what you think it is (and you don't have a short)? If so, you need an ohm reader.

Usually it says N60, N70, N80, etc. If not you could email the supplier and ask.

aha okay thanks! i see that the ohm reader is very cheap! but apparently here in norway we have to pay tax if i go over a limit, for ordering outside norway. and that site has e liquids with nicotine, so i have to stay in limit everytime i order. yeah i know sucks totally!

i will for now use the aspire nautilus mini, and afterwards i'll order the ohm reader, and build coils on my RBA.

yeah i emailed him now. thanks for the help guys! you have been really a good guide here. i was researching this like in 6 hours without luck! now i'm getting the hang of it :)

guys, i irritated my throat with the ce4, and it feels like dry and stings! i was not dehydrated or anything. i always use a water bottle near me. i think i burned the ce4 wicks, i'm not sure. my friend said that. it hit too harsh! had to take it down to 5w and 3v, and still it was bad.

now i got a cartomizer from a friend, direct lung hit. i like it! but since my throat got irritated i feel like it's hurting it more of the nicotine, it feels uncomfortable with the nicotine in throat. i switched to 12mg now, it's better but still bad! should i double inhale in direct lung? like inhale vape, then oxygen afterwards? or just inhale and exhale, without inhaling air to get it further down in lungs? and the e juice has 65pg

should i switch back to swedish snus for like 2-3 days, and go back to vaping? or should i just ignore it and continue?

Do a lot of research before you jump into things. I wasted a lot of money on junk product but then those did help me quit smoking. Only wished I would of joined this forum sooner. Easy 300-400$ I could of saved lol. One thing I wanted to add is that nicotine can be absorbed in your mouth so there's really no need to inhale if your still not feeling good.

You need a good vaping mentor in videos you can easily pause, rewind as you need. I happen to know of an excellent one. Here are two of his videos you may find useful.
His videos are paced well for anyone to learn from. The information covered is fairly accurate, on point. He does not preach nor seem to take a stance of being superior. All in Super X Drifter makes excellent videos to learn from.

Don't be too worried about having some mistakes. That is part of learning. Be patient with yourself as well as with the process. You can and will learn it. Many others have already learned to build coils.

You may consider dropping your nicotine rate down to 6mg/ml or 6%. That may help with any harshness from the nicotine in your throat. Possibly, try a more balanced P/VG blend too. I use a 50%/50% blend most of the time, or a 40%PG/60%VG blend. I always write my blend mix with PG expressed first, like PG/VG, it seems fairly standard doing so.

For building coils, I would suggest reading some threads.
These are useful for someone coming into vaping. Please take your time. It is better to wade in the shallows with the guppies for a while before learning to swim with the sharks in the deep end. Do not mean to frighten or alarm you. There are though some risks you need to be aware of, choosing to act responsibly in relation to them.

Vaping is not smoking. This means vaping has a little learning curve. It is good to learn and good to live. :)
Hopefully, I've offered you some fair pointers here. This forum has lots of valued information. There are also some expressly wonderful people on board to help answer questions, too. Again, be patient. You will be well on on your way. :)

A cheap clearomizer I use is the kangertech subtank mini. I run it at 11.6 watts using a 1.5 or 1.2 ohm coil.

I'm not sure I would a genuine Kanger Subtank cheap, not compared to a $11 eleaf/kanger tank.
Also, even with the 1.5ohm coil, it's not going to perform well on a SID. (I can try it, for science)
Other than those two things, I'm enjoying you comments and empathize with your post about $100s wasted on junk.

aha, they sell 1.2 ohm sub ohm coils for their SID, but i bought now 1.6 ohms x2 and another one is 1.8 ohms, with the nautilus mini. and i bought a 29 gauge nichrome 80 series, using to plan my build with the coil engine, also i bought some 2 and 3mm silica wicks, as they suggested for the AGA-T7.

and i'm getting better now, at least my throat is, but still headache and pressure in face. think i'll give it 1-2 days more. I'm now vaping, without nicotine sometimes, somehow it helps better on my throat for like 5mins. don't know how that's possible haha!

you think i'm wasting money on these things? except the ce4 and that AGA-T7 that was too advanced at first. I got the SID from a good friend of mine, and i got the new smok atta tank.

I would stick with the nautilus until you get your ohm reader and a higher wattage box mod. Then you can build to almost any resistance and drip away happily. Definitely drop the nicotine and increase the percentage of vegetable glycerin in your E liquid to reduce the throat irritation. I vape 100% VG because I find that propylene glycol makes my throat raw. Once you get a higher wattage mod try the aspire triton tank because there are many coils from many brands that are compatible with it and you can find the coil you like best.

yeah i thought so i will use high vg, but i don't think i have any problem with the pg, as long it's not over 50% yeah thanks, i will use my tank on higher watt mod, was planning to do that actually! and i will try the aspire triton as well! you guys have helped me really here! it has been my first post on any forum, much better to ask on a forum, than everyday people :D
