Piccoloid?
It's a Piccolo and Spheroid combo!

We had the GP Piccolo for a while now and when it's newer version was announced (V4, for 2015) I started wondering. You see, the Piccolo was already perfected thru quite a few iterations (till the V3) ~ top notch materials (grade 316 SS), precision machining, minimalist design, nice short throw switch, came in three finishes (Polished, Brushed and Bead Blasted) et all. So how (and what) could it be bettered with a V4 I wondered. Well, it seems it could be ~ and Team-GP could do it!

WHAT IS IT?
A 16mm mechanical mod and atty (combo purchase if you desire, or standalone), which takes 14500 batteries. The combo includes Piccolo V4 and Spheroid V3.

WHAT CHANGED?
Nothing, but everything! A fine mod made all the more sweeter. Its quality, build, materials and machining remains intact ~ but a few welcome additions get included:

1. Self adjusting GPin, in the topcap
2. Paps V3 like Switch, with an Alu-Bronze button and lock ring
3. Static negative post button, the battery is not pushed upwards when pressing the button!
4. Hollow concave negative post, increases conductivity
5. Silver plated contacts (510 end and negative plate in the switch) 15+ microns thick
6. CNC engraved GP icon, gone is the laser etched logo
7. Length reduced by 1.6mm over the previous Piccolo V3
8. Semi touch button, 0.3mm throw
9. Around 20% increase in conductivity
10. Polished lock ring and topcap

BOTTOMLINE

There is a place for 16mm / 17mm devices in our vape lifestyle. I rock one all the time, especially when I'm out-n-about. And in this format there might just be nothing better than the GP Piccolo V4 and a Spheroid V3. This new iteration/s of both is just soooo darn awesome. Looks great and vapes splendidly. I find near zero voltage loss and the system fires spontaneously.

The workmanship gone into this version is way up ~ a giant leap from it's earlier models. Everything about it oozes hi-end and style. The logos line up* (mod and the atty) and the brush work on both is identical. Together with it's polished ends (lock ring and the topcap) it just is a stunning looking li'l device ~ which is hard to resist.

Great job by Team-GP!

The silver Gpin and contacts come on the Lux don't they? I got the Lux based on Colonial Sedge's recommendation, but I didn't really look to much into it, lol.

Do you know the specifics on the lux version compared to the regular? Also, Spheroid comes with silver plated 510 pin too?

Thanks for another awesome write up Q, what perfect timing for me and Mtek, and anyone else who snagged on during VD today!!!

Great review Qorax.
Have been using Piccoloid for 2 months now. Every word you say its true. Amazing finish, amazing performance. This is my on-the-go combo, but cant have enough of it so i am using it at home also :). Found out that Piccoloid works best (for me) with 1-1.3 Ohm setup with 30AWG Kanthal and cotton.
Two thumbs up for GP-Team.

Thanks for the appreciation buddy. I think you're right about those being in the Lux kit, but I'm not sure. That's how mine's came in.

Thanks buddy. O' yes, I too use one of my Spheroids over an 18500 Paps V3 all the time.

Gp rocks.
I'm trying so hard to not buy one of these lol
I used my v1 spheri for a long time, truly a high performance leak proof Atty.

Need to save my cash, the revised Sturm Pandora is coming

But anyone reading who's on the fence, don't second guess this one. Pure class and your new best friend lol

I'm having throat hit issues. Getting none. Tried all from 1ohm to 1.3ohms. Nothing. Vapes perfect on my Vaporshark etc.
Good flavour and smoke tho.
Have to say it's very very very well crafted. It's just simple and elegant! I actually love it. Just want to get the throat hit sorted so i can use it daily! Ordered my 2nd battery too :)

Edit-
No throat hit on my Vaporshark either, was mistaken. So put another atty that hits hard (squape r at 1.2ohm) on the picoloid and no throat hit. Battery is fresh of charger...

As long as you're above 1 ohm there shouldn't be a prob with these 14xxx batteries. 1.4-1.6 Ohms seem to be my sweet spot vis-a-vis battery life and nice VTF.
How long are these batteries meant to last for let's say 1.2ohm? Few hours? All day? Occasional vaper....

Also Q, how far in mm is your coil from the deck? Like i like my throat hit a lot. So i put mine high, like the bottom will be inline with the posts...
