Would you really want to?

Ha, that response leads me to believe its a bad idea! I certainly don't want to damage my Lux; I'd be lost for sure and forced to resort back to my ProVari. I'm just bored and recalling the "tube of gold" appearance the Lux had when unwrapped, and am curious as to how to get that back.

I do rest heavily on the advice given in this thread, and if polishing using mechanics is a bad idea then consider the thought banished!

eagle one never dull works really good but takes a bit of time if its badly tarnished. mothers billet polish is used by a lot of people also. aluminum mag polish like mothers billet polish is more aggressive than never dull and can work out fine scratches. cut up an old cotton t-shirt in to small pieces to work with. use one piece to rub the polish in and once it gets black buff it off with another clean piece. repeat polish and buff till you get all the scratches worked out. i use HOT soapy water to clean the tube after since my polish has a weird smell that i hate. the hot water comes off with a flick and use a cotton towel to clean the threads and inside. you can also cut down the bristles of a toothbrush and work some polish in the threads to clean them. scrub them with the hot soapy water and the toothbrush to buff them.

I use my dremel with a polishing wheel and a bit of clay or brasso to clean all my contacts often. It works great and shines them up effortlessly. I can whip over all the contacts in 30 seconds and BOOM clean. I have no issue putting brasso on them as the minute addition of abrasive is nice to get the darkness off. I have been doing this for a very long time on atty and device contacts with no issue.
The contacts aren't on display and there is no visual sight of any scratching.

Contacts - just wiped clean

My other "want" was to remove the patina from my Lux. Now I know it will only come back, but I was bored and wanted to shine it back up.

Grabbed a small tub of Mothers. Cleaned & dried my tube. Used a very small amount on the micro cloth. Wiped off before it dried. Perfect!

Honestly, I like both looks; shined and patina. It was just something to toy with for a few. I like to pull apart my switch and clean the threads on it and the tube. It's always in my pocket, so I find while unlocked the threads will gather debris in the grooves causing some stickiness in the ease of locking/unlocking.

aluminum polish can aslo be used to shine up stainless. wet sand 600 then 1000 grit and finish off with polish. still trying to get a good brushed finish to come out. best i had so far is the dish spong with the green scotch brite. use some soapy water and chuck it in a drill on high. got the GP polish adapters but havent got to play with them yet. was using an old carto in my drill.

Take that Domo :), love ya man!
And, King P is of course correct on the gold contacts. I def would stick with his plan.
But, I do buff the brass ones with dremel and polisher occasionally if the water/soap is not enough.

Contacts, Yes, in a heartbeat. It's proven to work quickly, efficiently, and a a pleasure to do with no ill effects. A quick once over with a polishing wheel takes less than 5 seconds a contact.

We were talking about the Alu-Bronze tube Sir!

Hmmm now I look and it seems a few of us were talking about contacts :)
Is it possible to rinse the filler in the Spheroid? If not, it's not a big deal, but am curious.

Yes, I do it often when flavour change is needed. I also will do it to maintain the wool wicking as juice will gum a bit if sugary....GVC.
I leave it on the air tube, rinse and blow dry it. Besides its fun to watch the wool spin.

Guys i tried cotton hemp yarn with microcoil in spheroid. I saw some of the cotton turning black under the coil and somewhere on the loops. Taste is not that great. Should I be alarmed? is cotton a no-no in spheroid?

You can use anything as long as your setup is wicking properly. If your cotton is turning black and taste is poor, it's probably not wicking enough and you're just burning your wick, hence the bad taste.

I use cotton in Spheroid and I don't see any taste difference or weird behaviour compared to silica.. I actually found that cotton maintains the upward looking "horns" shape which is quite convenient when refilling.
