i diy most of my own stuff, i'm super picky when it comes to food, tastes and whatnot, (even in diy I only buy capellas or FW, everything else my mother-in-law makes extracts for us) so making my own juice i can pretty much match it to what I'm wanting, I've tried a lot and all of the gourmet ones, grant's, standard, murdock, etc.... but I havent found a whole lot of juices that are anything but average imo. (besides suicide bunny, ofc ...... mmmmmm ) but in 2 years of buying juice I never found an all day vape untill I made one myself, now i have 5.

I assume you are using regular fluffy cotton in which case yes it takes a nice shape. I am using a cotton hemp yarn, which tends to stay down. I should try the cotton fluffs. Thanks.

Here is what I use:

You can see it's a 2mm yarn and I have just made a "pigtail" out of it (not sure this is a correct term though) to make it thicker. It maintains the shape nicely and gets dark under the coil, but for me it runs longer then silica so far. For like 1.5-2 weeks atm and I'm only changing it because I feel I have too.. I'm not a heavy vaper though.

Got my spheroid working flawless now too. I kept rebuilding thinking it was my coil and finally thought about changing the sera wool to a smaller amount. That did the trick. I'm still getting about 3mls in there before was at about 3.5. I was getting huge clouds with no flavor at first. It's all about the wicking.

Suggestions to people having problems, play with the amount of filler material. Start with less than suggested. Theirs a couple good tips and tricks in the other GP thread.

I'd say the single mistake most people make with the Spheroid is "too much": too much wick extending up into the filler, or too much filler.

The Spheroid is small, and requires very little filler. It is safe to assume that the thicker the juice, the less filler is needed. I use the thickest 100% VG juices, so I use a bare wisp of filler. And the wicks really don't need to do more than contact the filler to draw juice. Gravity does most of the work.

Too much filler chokes the juice, similar to a coil that is too tightly wrapped around a wick. i have no idea why too much wick inhibits juice flow, but I suspect it is because the excess tails hold juice, and don't pass it to the coil quickly enough - it's like the tails don't "know" that more juice is needed near the center at the coil.

For every manufacturer with ejuices I like, there are 3-4 which were either flavorless or downright nasty for my taste buds. And there is no rhyme or reason. Example: Boba's, one of the most popular juices in the market, just tastes cloying and nasty to me. I kind of like their Gorilla Juice, but it is an occasional drip vape, I'd never take a tank of it with me. Thousands swear by Alice in Vapeland, Heather's, Virgin Vapor, Velvet Vapor, Highbrow - I didn't like any of them.

I've settled in with Velvet Cloud, Ahlusion, some Murdock (although 701 made me gag), Mom & Pop, and Pipesauce, GVC along with a few individual juices from some other places.

If I may ask, which juices do you like?

I am so jealous. I've been at this for three years and spent a lot more for juice, than for hardware,(and that's a lot) but have found only two liquids that I really like. You are truly blessed my friend !

Kataphraktos, thank you for the fluid thoughts. I have only found a handful of fluids i like, but am always looking for more. When next vape budget is passed from my CFO down to me, i will be stalking for some fluid in a few weeks.

I have the same juice in my SnP and Diver set up that I have in the Spheroid but I am getting different flavor between the two.

Both coils are at 1.5ish (Diver is 1.53 and Spheroid is 1.61) so I assume it has to be that my fluff is packed too tightly. I have some Sera filter wool on the way from eBay so I will have to wait until it arrives to redo the fluff..

I am getting muted flavor and much less vapor from the Spheroid. This was my 1st attempt at the Spheroid build (the coil on it is fine so I assume it's the fluff) but I am confident I will nail it down.

I did not trim the included fluff so that may be my issue.. I might give that a go!

I was having a similar issue (I quoted myself above) and found the exact same as you did. I had rebuilt the coil about 5 times and finally decided (I'm hard headed) to reduce the amount of filler.

I noticed the SS Paps has a different switch than the Lux, slotted post on the button. Why is that?

Any other difference between the two, besides the obvious?

The Paps does not get hot, just the exterior of the Spheroid.

I checked the coil and everything looks fine and it does vape like a champ but man it gets HOT and I mean real hot when I chain vape it.

Is this normal? If not what else can I check to resolve the issue?

Very normal. My spheroid tends to be hotter than others. It's a very small chamber, the heat has to go somewhere. Chain vaping is definitely a big reason. But you should be good.
