It only took me 1 day. I was determined to quit as my dentist told me that there were hard spots starting to form on my gums?(something like that).
But honestly I wouldn't have needed that fear of gum cancer (or whatever). When I felt like what I was using wasn't satisfying me any longer; I bought new stuff. After about 5 liters of juice I dont like, and 30 mods/batteries, I finally settled back to where I started... 306-ego-backwoods brew. LOL. It takes time to figure out juices and what works for you but dont give up.

Another thing that helped me is to NEVER visit a convenience store.. EVER - PAY AT THE PUMP

Welcome to ECF Mojojo,

I vaped and smoked for almost a month. Right after getting my first starter kit, I immediately dropped down from 30 a day to five and under. For about three weeks I remained five and under and the last week, under three, last couple of days one and under.

For me the worst was the morning cigarette. One day I just decided I was so close.. let me try to eliminate that one then I can say I'm not smoking anymore which would feel good. It's been a week and a day now. It's a choice for me. I still have cigarettes in the house, and I can smoke at anytime. I choose not to.

Also by going down to just one for a few days it showed me how terrible I felt when I did smoke that one. Drink lots of water as Sanjosse stated, and do it when you are ready... The hardest part and the one I'm still struggling with is the right juice. On some you can come close, but you're vaping, and nothing fully replaces a cigarette. You've made tremendous gains so far!!

Best of Success to you!

I am currently doing the gradual switch because I am still hung up on the feel of an analogue cigarette but hoping I will be able to completely kick them to the curb soon.

So far I am very impressed with the results from 50 to 4 analogues a day within 2 weeks but can't seem to go lower than that just yet. :(

I am curious to know how long it took before you could completely do the switch or even quit everything completely.

I applaud the ones that could just switch without looking back from day 1 but for myself I haven't been able to go a day yet without having a couple analogues.

Anyone else go through this or still working on it?

Any tips or tricks definitely welcome.

Wonderful success stories, ALL!

It's mostly psychological for "me" now. The habit of lighting up is strong but...

Finding that as I get more and more e-liquids I really do like,
I have more and more tasty choices for any occasion.
It's becoming easier to sidetrack myself away from having an analog
(which lasts only a matter of seconds, then it's gone...burnt up...!)
and choose any one of my much more tasty alternatives.(or all of them!!!)

While I initially thought that by owning a Provari, it would be the one and only PV
that I would need. After grabbing a couple of different eGo batts(back-ups), including the VV one,
and having them laying around with different e-liqs on each one, it's become much easier just to
grab one and vape what I feel like vaping atm.

A lot of the store bought e-liqs just weren't cutting it for me either, making the choice to
vape instead of smoke more difficult. Getting a wider selection of flavourings has helped
in giving new life and flavour to some old tired e-liqs.
As far as I can tell now, no e-liq is beyond salvaging(with a little experimentation)
and it's both fun and satisfying to make any juice more enjoyable by tweaking it here and there.

I'd be remiss if I didn't add that the simplicity of the Stardusts over the other options I've
tried make things much easier for me too.YMMV. Got 5 fav. flavs in 5 SD's atm.
They work very well for me!

Keeping as few obstacles between me and my vape make the choice
easier when I get a craving for a "smoke".

The more successful I'm getting with a little DIY here and there, the less inclined I am
to smoke. I'm certainly no DIY wizard yet by any stretch but having a few successes
in that area sure does help very much. YUM, YUM, YUM!!!

Quite the journey that ECF and the many, many posters have got me on here!

Thanks to all! It really works!!:vapor::vapor:

Edit; switching entirely is still a work in progress.

I went from a pack and a half a day habit to 10 cigs day 1, 4 the next day and haven't had a cig since. I have broken down and had a few cigars (every winter it's like ritual for me). those first 2 days were rough but after that it's a breeze. it's like anything. you have to decide if it's what you want to do, then do it. you will go through some withdrawal because of all the chemicals you are not replacing. when you have made up your mind that health is more important than the habit, you will stop. I knew to be able to sing again, I had no choice. it's like anything, it's you that has to want to stop, and it doesn't matter what anyone says or does, it's down to you and your own decision. and then sticking to it. the withdrawals go away. the psychological aspect carries on a lot longer than might be expected. I still have times I see a cig and want to pick one up, because it was a big part of my life for about 30yrs. then I remember how stupid. I even feel the same about cigars and luckily they taste worse every time I have one. it's that thing in the back of our heads that make us think it's so good when really, if any smoker is honest with themselves, they can't honestly say these things taste good. we trick our minds into thinking they do, but while we are puffing away, we know the real truth to that thought...

I smoked aprox 15-20 a day and am down to 3-5 a day. It has only been 4 days since i started using my pv, but I can see it is going to be alot of trial and error. I started on a 24mg Marlboro juice and found it quite harsh and did not overly enjoy it, but no cravings. Currently I am using a 16mg red apple juice, the taste is a little better but I am having some cravings through out the day.

I have not yet had a real smoke today. For myself I find it helps if I do not look at it as "quitting" smoking. I try to look at it as I "choose" not to have one and acknowledge the times where i would normally have one. I know I want one when i wake up, after I eat, while driving etc. Instead of trying to put it in the back of my mind and avoiding it I tell myself i do not want one, sometimes even out loud haha. ( hope no one was listening to me while i was talking to myself :p )
I am so amazed with ecf, there are so many people willing to help others!

Sounds like so many people are doing well, congrats to everyone :)!

If you had no cravings on 24mg but didn't like the marlboro, get another flavour or 2 in 24mg :)

I had a half a cig the day after I got my first vaping supplies, (a ego pass through and some kranger cartos) Nov 6th or so
it tasted horrible in that short of time.
I started at 24mg and recommend it to all I convert.
As well not to wait until you need a smoke but vape off an on all day.
More at the start to get you off to a good start and you will use it less as time goes by.

Congrats to you all for starting vapeing and do what works best for you.

My first day I decided to go smoke free and vape only, which was the day after I bought my first eGo-C, I noticed something that may help. Initially I vaped "Poma-Grenade" which is quite sweet. Immediately I thought "this isn't going to work, I want a cigarette" but then I reached for a harsh tobacco blend and took three vapes and waited... The urge for the cigarette was gone and what it took was a nasty tobacco to do it. So my tip is stay away from flavoured juices and go straight tobacco.

Best of luck!

When I first got my ego-t starter kit I went from half a pack to 3 or 4 analogues over night. It didn't really bother me that I hadn't quit. Then i started to notice after a couple of weeks I wasn't enjoying the cigs as much. I was vaping cappuccino and other delicious flavours and noticed cigarettes just weren't satisfying me. They were missing the flavour I got from vaping. That day was Jan 19/2012 and I haven't had one since.

Don't put pressure on yourself to quit, I think its something you'll do when the time is right.

Every now and then I get a REALLY bad craving for a cigarette and the only thing that works for me is some Marlboro that was thrown in with my EVO. It smells like used gym socks buts it works!

It was about a week for me. Started on 12 mg, and was still smoking 3-4 analogs per day. On the sixth day, I bumped it up to 18mg, and no longer desired the analogs. I still have 8 left in the pack I had purchase over a month ago, just in case, but haven't even had the slightest desire to smoke one.
