So I believe the evolution is now complete, at least for me. I've gone from cig-a-likes to eGo/Vision to APV's to finally mechanical mods. I've sold all my APV's at this point. I now own a Chi-You clone and a Nemesis clone and love both. I have two rba's, the Kraken and the Kay fun lite, but I find that doing my own coils is too fiddly so I'll stick with my Davide Aspire which works great on both mech mods. And looks good too. My only issue is, I wish I had skipped APV's and gone straight to mechanical.

I am happy you have found what works for you.

Ironically I got away from Clearos because they were fiddly. With my REO + RM2 I can wrap one coil and have it last 4-6 weeks. Just changing out the cotton occasionally. Far less fiddling than I ever did with a Clearo. :)

I guess maybe that's a sign of how good the Aspire BDC's are. Basically, I just keep refilling. If I want to change flavors, I clean the clearomizer, pop in a new coil, and fill with new flavor. I put the old coil in some alcohol to soak over night, then I rinse it and set it aside to dry. So far I've only had one coil pop on me and that was the one that came with the first Aspire BDC tank I got roughly a month or two ago. The Kraken and the Kayfun are for when I feel like playing around with wick and wire, but so far I've never gotten a satisfactory vape off them. Maybe it just takes practice.

Of the clearos the aspires were the best. I just find them a much bigger pain in the .... than my bottom feeder + RDA combo :)

Everyone finds their thing. Glad you found yours!

Doing your own coils is too fiddly? Oh come now! I can re-coil my RBA's in about 3 minutes, and it's flat-out simple. A 4/3 wrap of 28 kanthal on an SS wick is just ridiculously easy to do.

Anyway, welcome to the wonderful world of mechs. You are in the club. Message me for the secret handshake...

Short stuffy fingers makes for lots of fun when trying to do such tiny work. Though I did manage a nice single coil on my Kraken that seems to be working nicely.

It's crazy how things have changed. I remember when mechs with a dripping atty was just a stepping stone for people on the road to an APV and a tank. Variable voltage was all the rage for those looking to 'up their game.' Now RBA/RDA's and subohm's have turned the tables. I love it. Of course this now puts me back into the nooberish category once again.
