I don't think there are very many people here that have Grants so I would propose this. Measure your unprotected batteries and I will dig up my protected batteries and measure them and you can try putting your protected battery in with a spacer to match the length. I have never seen a grant disassembled but I am guessing there is a spring. If so I would think protected batts would fit as well but again this is just guesswork.

Thanks BuGG, (and the others). I was just about to order some 14500's, but was unclear if I could only use the Trustfire ones (blue). Wanted to order from Dealextreme but I think they are overseas and I can't find the blue Trustfires here.
Thanks again.
Why is that buGG that you prefer unprotected IMR's? I will use a cartomizer, but maybe it's time to get an atomizer (the constant dripping will drive me nuts though).

i can't speak on the trustfires, they're bound to vary a bit in size..but the aw protected definitely fit, no problems whatsoever....and if you're going the protected route (and buying new batts), you may as well get the aw p17500...it fits like a glove and will last a little longer.

i prefer the imr batteries in general because they are safer chemistry than those other batteries, protected or not, but also because they are fully capable of use with a lower resistance atomizer, they don't drop voltage much under load, and tend to hold the higher voltages longer than conventional lico batteries in the same size...so if vapor cuts off at about 3.5V, you may find that the imr14500 keeps you above that a little longer than the protected version, even a protected version like the 17500, despite the fact that the 17500 will still have juice for other things and may continue to produce vapor when the imr14500 quits...but while both are going strong, the imr is better vape for me. pretty much anything below an 18500 i recommend the IMR. also, since you're getting a p&p, you may just want to stock up on your imr14500s now, save the hassle of messing with different batteries, and use them for your grant and the proteus when it gets here.

i see where this is going, so i'll be waiting for your questions when you land the nano and super nano next. nice digging you've been doing so far!!!

So buGG are you confessing up to having a Grant brother????? I like you even more now :D

:p

Thanks so much for the info. I like the idea of the 17500 (ist't this the same one the GGTB uses, I can't remember). I will go and order one of each to see what's better, since I will use low res cartos. I was just worried because of the Grant revisions, but maybe that was just the button and had nothing to do with the body. I was one a little quest to distract myselfm but my vintage GG quest will be over as soon as I'm back to my normal routine ;)Thanks

Bugg, the IMR's do not fit, neither do the protected AW's. The tube is ca 8 centimenters and the only way I can get it to vape os putting two magnets on the negative end of the protected 14500. I will order the 17500's. Hope they fit without all the extra speace and it should give me more vape time than 25 minutes :)

Silver, what condition is the spring in ? I was just wondering if this is the reason behind you needing magnets.

Spring is pretty stiff, the last 3 loops seems to be giving and "springy". Ordered the 17500, hopefully that will do it. The IMR is so completly off, rattlong around that I would probably need 6 magnets to fit it.
Btw, where to you put the magnets (it will work on eithet side, but I put them for now on the negative end.
I should get ithe Grant "serviced" by a knowledgeble member, since it could run even better if it would be cleaned and looked over. For now it's Ok, just pulled the battery from the charger and will time how much vaping time I'll get. Thanks ckc.
