Hello ECF forumers and greetings from Malaysia. I recently started out vaping after 3 years of smoking. I find it different from my regular cigs. Initially it was kinda okay but I realized my menthol e-juice does not give that super cool feeling that normal menthol cigarettes give. Still on the fence about whether I want to totally switch or not. Some more when I get stressed it seems only the regular cigarette can calm me down, e-cigs have like 30% of the effect from regular cigs.

Oh I have many more questions but it seems like I need 5 post to be able to post in other sections. Would it be okay to post my questions in the New Member Forums?

Thanks!

Ah I have the same problems sometimes. When I get really stressed or anxious then vaping doesn't seem to do it and I want to run to analogs. I use low nic levels though no more than 6mg/ml so I think that's why. But it does get easier as you keep going.

I gave myself some leaning room so I could bend if I really felt I needed to smoke one I would. Then I would tough the next bad craving out and vape.
A few days later I toughed the next two cravings out and vaped. I'm slowly eliminating smoking due to cravings and its working for me.

I do however smoke a few analogs when I drink but I made my girlfriend limit me to 2 a night when drinking :).

It worked for me I did try a few methods before finding one that worked however. It also does help to have my girlfriend constantly over my shoulder if I reach for an analog out of habit she's going to make sure I know she sees.
That helps me to break the habit of going for a smoke instead of vaping. Its getting more habitual to vape than it is to light an analog that's progress!

Also if my method doesn't work I'm sure other will be posted here don't get discouraged if it doesn't stick with it and keep trying. You'll find a way that works and there's plenty of amazing support here.

Welcome to ECF!

I had what seems to be a very rare experience when I switched to vaping. I accidentally quit when I tried an e-cig for the first time. I was a 1.5 pad smoker for 25 years and somehow I enjoyed the e-cig so much that I forgot to smoke for almost a week. When I did try an analog, it disgusted me and I put it out immediately. I haven't had a single smoke since in almost 4 years.

I will say this however. I didn't underestimate my addiction to nicotine. I started out with the highest nic level I could find at the time. And when higher nic levels came out, I bumped my juices levels up too. I can't advise anybody how much nicotine they should or shouldn't be using. But personally, I think I would have had an experience like the two of you if I had started out with only 6 or 8 mg.

Anyways. That's the beauty of Vaping. There is all kinds of equipment and juice varieties out there for you to try until you find your "sweet spot". Just don't make the mistake that many people fall prey to when starting out. Don't under spend on your equipment. Its understandable that you want to test the waters. But starting out on terrible equipment and juice just makes for a bad experience and more likely that you'll wind up going back to analogs.

Thank you Warpigs & Spyderbite.

Yes Spyderbite I did start out on a extremely generic cig-a-like that produce zero vapour and tasted like ..... So I went and got a SVD and some Liqua E-Juice. Still not satisfied as the iClear30 clearomizer keeps leaking into the part where it connects to the battery even when I tighten it the whole way.

I plan to get a iTaste VTR and some premium high end brand E-Juice next month. Probably going for the highest nicotine level as you said hoping maybe that will quench my cravings for nicotine. I did noticed a huge difference from my E-Juice and analogs. Seems like analogs gives a better high. Will try to increase nicotine levels.

You may need to adjust to a different inhale technique. The nicotine in vapor is mostly absorbed in the mouth and throat, not so much in the lungs. Therefore, instead of inhaling directly into your lungs, do a mouth-to-lung inhale. Suck the vapor into your mouth using your cheek muscles, hold it (maximum absorbtion and cooling the vapor) for a second, then inhale into your lungs. On exhale, release some through your nose. Your sense of smell assists your sense of taste.

Tried it no difference. Probably because I use menthol. Will give other flavors a try next month.
