So,

I'm midway through my third mod... figure, hey, might as well try doing a 5V mod... all i have so far is stuff that runs at just over 3.7v...

So i head out to the store, pick up all my supplies, including a 5v 1amp Regulator...

get home and i spent the first hour or so mentally placing everything, then i carefully carve holes (i don't have fancy tools) for all the pieces... now i have my batteries in place, i have my 510 connector in place, and i have my horn momentary push button in place... start connecting things and noted... HRRRMMM>>> why do all the diagrams have 4 poles coming from the regulator...

whoops... apparently i didn't get a 5V 3amp Regulator with a control pin that all the diagrams i can find are calling for

is this fixable tonight... do i need to have the control pin variant or can i run this a different way??

help???

Jay

1A... useless. Toss it.

With a switch like that you don't need a 4th pin/control pin. Switching the main Vin with your horn will make for an easier to build and more efficient mod.

Here's the basic layout (can't remember who drew up the original) for a linear reg.

The blue X's are where you could place a master/kill switch (pick one). Throw a heat sink on the reg, it don't have to be fancy. Do check out the datasheet on the reg you choose for the correct pin-out.
