just got my flavoring from Lorann and have it mix... letting it steeping in for a day or so before testing out. also just order some Capella flavoring. Will see how good are the taste like. Anyone manage to find some good flavoring like red apple or grapes? Or can be close as BWB standard?

I miss the LorAnn grapes flavoring which is the transparent types and not the purple flavoring. Anyone notice the changes in color?

This guide was extremely helpful to me, and I'm already just about as addicted to DIY as I was to those nasty cigarettes.

I also wanted to thank Dan for his EXCELLENT Excel program (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...e-calculator-added-quantity-calculations.html) for calculating percentages and making a recipe 'book.' I used it for the first time tonight and my second ever DIY liquid came out a treat!

Thanks to everyone at ECF DIY for helping feed my super fun new addiction.

I'm also a cook and find this to be very like cooking, and I think this may be one of the reasons I fell in lurv with it!!

I dont know how the color has changed with the grape flavors, but I mixed a batch of grape which was so dark it was almost black. Even after steeping for a couple of days it had almost no flavor. :(

The FE from ecig has a great grape and is very clear. Its one of the best grapes I have tasted. It doesnt taste candy like and actually has a juiciness to it. Add a little koolada and its an awesome vape. I also got the FE Apricot which is fantastic its so good Im scared to add anything to it.

Im still trying out many tobaccos and my next venture is to extract my own but trying to find the time is very hard. I have so much going on and not enough time to do my experiments lol. Out of all the super concetrated flavor rage going on the only tobacco flavor I liked was French Pipe the rest have the same hay tasting note to it. I am really curious to try seedmans stuff but I hear it isnt a easy learning curve. I do have a new TPA flavor I havent tried yet its a fire honey virginia I think.

I am trying to find two things......... my perfect strawberry........and my perfect peach. If anyone has ideas on who makes the best flavoring for these or for anything, please let me know. :)

Mmm...peach, I <3 peach!!

I got a wonderful premixed peach as a sample from High Desert E-Cigs. It was just juicy and awesome. I ordered some peach flavoring from them and I'm super excited to mix some up.

I should get it by this weekend and I'll let ya know!

That video rocks! We saw him this year at New Years at Stellar Spark, it was sick.

To All at the E-cig Forum,

Let me say THANK YOU !!!!!!! for all of your ideas for helping us newbie Vapers and DYIers. I have spent hours reading the posts on E-Cig Forum and just took the plunge into DYIing. I am so happy to have found this forum and this thread in particular with all of the GREAT posts from experienced DYIers.
My first attempt at mixing my own fluids has gone well ( Thank to this thread ) and the resutls are good and in my opinion
( for whatever its worth ) the good results are because I followed a lot of the suggestions on this thread!

Okay wow! The amount of information here is mind-bending... I want to try some DIY. I have a Provari and a Mark-T rebuildable atomizer. If I could DIY my liquid then my costs would fall dramatically.

I was thinking, an easy start should be to get 24mg/mL NIC that is premixed in 60VG/40PG, and just add flavoring right? I see that you can get that at Wizard Labs. As long as it stays above about 18mg NIC it will be good for me.

Also, how do I know how much flavoring to start with? I guess use one of the charts floating around here and just go by the percentage of the overall amount of liquid in the bottle?

I am picking up my first supply of DIY stuff tomorrow from Wizard Labs. :)

I decided to go with the 48mg NIC with PG base and bought additional PG and VG to cut it with. This should give more options for getting the mix % you want and nic level.

I also downloaded the ejuicemeup calculator program (free).

After reading about the DIY methods it seems to make sense on my set up so I can change the mix ratio if I want to later on. I am going to start with a 70/30 ratio.

Yes, the flavorings amounts will vary but it doesn't seem to hard to find the recommended amounts. Start low and adjust up as needed from what I have read so far.

Right, the charts that are toward the start of this thread are a good point to start at. There is also E-Liquid Recipes stuff other people have found works for them.

As stated above, it's easier to start low and work up. See my blog on Flavoring Levels for a handy guide on what to look for as you work uip your mixes.

Thank you both! I was thinking of getting the premixed 60VG/40PG with 24mg/mL NIC. Although I might get the 48mg/mL NIC and extra PG and VG... I was thinking of starting with RY4 and Pina Colada, which both are on Wizard Labs as a flavoring. I have read though, that with RY4 I will want to get extra tobacco, caramel, and vanilla, to get it how I like it... What is the best brand to get those flavorings from?

Hiya! The flavorings Wizard Labs sells are from a variety of vendors (seedmans, flavor art, tpa, etc), so check the descriptions to see who's they are. For example, they carry RY4 Type 1, RY4 Double, and RY4 Asian which are all (pretty certain) from The Perfumers Apprentice.

I personally think the RY4 Type 1 is just plain gross and nothing like any other RY4 I've had. The RY4 Double is not even in the same ballpark: it's actually very good IMO. The Asian RY4 I have not had, but I've seen a number of people that have enjoyed it (I think that one's pretty new).

Caramel, Vanilla, some sort of nut or nut mix (i.e. hazelnut), Bavarian Cream, Graham Cracker, and Acetyl Pyrazine are all either ingredients in some recipe for, or flavor notes that come up in association with RY4.

I'll shortly be trying a recipe of RY4 dbl (starting this time around 10% and working up) + a drop at a time of Acetyl Pyrazine in 40/60 PG/VG. Ethyl Maltol may also be helpful to some of these recipes (haven't read this per se - that's just speculation).

I just ordered some 36mg NIC base in 50/50, and the RY4 Double(BEFORE reading your post actually, lucky me!), along with caramel, bavarian creme, vanilla, cotton candy(the sweetener kind), and some Tobacco Absolute, along with Pina Colada, Pear, Pineapple, Hypnotica, Koolada, Cherry, and some others. I ordered pure PG and VG from ecigexpress to cut it with. Also I got big and small bottles, pipettes, syringes...

Sound like I got everything I need to get started? I was looking at beakers and graduated cylinders and stuff, but if I have various bottle sizes and syringes and pipettes, I don't know why I would need them.

As I myself am just starting this adventure, I like the idea of using syringes. It seems, for me, it will be easier to measure everything at first. I like the idea of having a glass graduated cylinder for some reason though. lol I guess it would make me feel like a chemist.

I have tons of syringes now thanks to Walgreen's wonderful pharmacy staff! :D

I REALLY like using a glass cylinder. However, I'm trying to figure out a better way to measure VG without using a pipette - it's really thick and the pipette doesn't work too well for me.

Haha I almost got beakers and a graduated cylinder for exactly that reason. Have some fun with it right? Still, I had to keep my costs low this order... Once I am more comfortable and have a little more disposable income I will go a little nutty.

Walmart and Walgreens both sell a carded set of a 10ml syringe and a ridged conic shaped adapter. The adapter screws into a bottle of VG, the pipette jams into the adapter, then you can tilt the bottle and easily pull the VG into the syringe. Works like a charm. and you can use with bigger syringes too.

I also found a 5ml baby's medicine spoon at one of those stores that you can easily pour VG in and out of.

I see myself having 2 problems with DIY. First, is the whole "needing to steep for a week or more" thing. I mean, here I go mixing something that could be amazing or horrifying, and either way I don't wanna wait that long to find out. Second, is that I have a tendency to "jump off the deep end" when I learn new things... For instance I see myself doing 1 or 2 juices with only one flavor, and when they go well, switch gears and try a juice with like 4-5 flavors. I just can't help myself.
