Thats one of my fav sayings, I'm glad someone is looking at what I did from an alternative point of view rather then I just wasted my money.

I used to teach technology clinics to the public on weekends at my former job. The one thing I always stressed was not to rely on any one source of material or any one person's opinions, but to do your own homework and decide on your own opinion, in other words, "Find out for yourself". Personally, I'm glad you did. You also backed yourself up with clear candid photos. So no device for protection, but, a method for protection and explained by the inventor. "Presented for your approval":)

That is all I wanted to have a civil conversation with trog, and he didn't seem to mind to tearing up the SD too much, I just don't understand why so many people are worried about my financial situation. Trog doesn't feel insulted, I don't care that I lost a bit of my money, so what is the big deal? Maybe next time I'm having a bad day i'll do the same with one of my other mods.

apologies crash, none of my business about your finances, but you could have just popped out the pcb board with a pick and see what you were looking for. The way you butchered that thing, you for sure had to have killed the lil magic pixies trog puts in there to make the magic fog.

Well like I said I was having a rough day, so all my anger was taken out on the SD, but its all good.

Good job crash at least we got to see the inner workings of the SD if not from you we got a good look from Trog.Alot of people buy the flashlight and try to make there own SD.Some can and some can't so thank you for your experiment of destuction.Trog is a good guy and will like he stated fix it for a price. This might be cheaper than buying a new one.He fixed mine twice once for button $15 and once melted spring free like he just said.He is a man of his word thanks Trog

It's a rough global economy. People get ....-hurt when they see someone doing something they can't. Keep on keepin' on Crash.

Crash, I have your back with a dremel!

I know that when I was building a charge circuit for lithium batteries I did short out a 18650 protected. No pop no fizzle just no voltage out of the battery since the protection blew..

Interesting, the black and red 18650 and 14500 from DX don't blow and the protection survives when shorted indefinitely. Tested myself when I forgot my multimeter on amps and tried to check the voltage

Using a mosfet to drive the circuit is cheap and one can pick a model that shuts off at a Vgs lower then a set voltage, that's how the protection works in these batts anyway.

Trog, if you are still around, doesn't the black wire (from Crash's pics) get hot when vaping or add to total resistance? The atty by itself is almost like a short to the battery at around 1Amp.

Noooooo:shock: please Crash, don't even think about it - sell it to me instead :D

On second thoughts, you wouldn't need to take a hacksaw to the Gg Transformer cos you can see how it works without doing so - phew!:D

I still don't understand why some people got so upset over me destroying my own property. Not that I need to justify my actions to anyone, but I'll try to explain. I like to see how things work, sure some mods that i have I can take them apart and have a good look at them, I couldn't do that with the SD, so thats why I did it. Also on a more different note do all you people believe what you're told?? Because I sure as hell don't, I don't believe stuff still i see it with my own eyes, and I couldn't do that with the SD so I decided to take a look inside it, and share what I found out with everyone else. I thought it was going to have a PCB but it didn't, instead the wire acts as a protection thing for it, so I did learn something new, I'm sure some other random people did too. Trog doesn't mind, I don't care, so whats the big deal??

you might think you fully shorted one of these batteries but you didnt.. they will bang out many many amps if fully and directly shorted.. enough to melt normal wires.. within seconds the whole thing gets very hot.. the plastic covering shrinks to expose the metal case covering which helps things along nicely when in the pocket with some keys or loose change..

i go back to my comment about no wires and solid metal bodies not being a good idea..

but it aint my perogative to comment on what folks buy or do.. its up to them.. crash kind of forced comment from me in this instance..

This was the Beginining of a Great idea!!

What i would suggest is you cut up some more Mod's to compare the Interiors of Each that way you can validly compare part for part
This is a good idea, yes - although surely it's only worth doing this with the wired ones?

Who's volunteering to take a hacksaw to the next one?
