Just a little project of mine to switch it up on the Reo. I've never used a hammer tone spray paint nor was I sure if I was even gonna like it, but I'd have to say it makes my Reo look damn good!

I'm not totally sure about whether or not all paint would have to be removed, but if it were up to me, i would take it down to bare metal.

For my RM2 cap, I sanded the plating and copper off with sandpaper. I cleaned the outer surface with acetone to remove any residual oils.

Two coats of paint, an hour bake at 200° in the oven and it was ready to rock.

Whatever it was you did. Removal of old paint, or anodize, and scuffing and cleaning. Not sure if you would have to remove the old paint or anodize as long as it was scuffed up and cleaned tho.

The op did reply to my pm. He removed the anodizing down to bare metal with a wire brush on a dremel (if I recall). Wouldn't worry about scuff marks as the hammered paint is textured and you won't see them.

And as Face told me ...make sure you mask the slider slots on the REO as well as the flanges on the door so the door will still fit!
