couldn't figure out where the best place to post this would be, still in my first couple months vaping. got a early xmas gift a hanamodz v3 dna40 evolve chipped temp controlled. im currently running tanks on it with prebuilt coils as im not quite into the rebuilding stage will be soon, anyways im running a nautilus tank on it and a kanger subtank, the aspire coil is a 1.8 bvc but it reads 2.08 and jumps up and down sometimes on the display the kanger subtank is running a .5 cotton filled coil and reads .55-.66 is this normal? i never had a temp controlled chipped mod before, my sigelie doesn't jump around at all. i guess im wondering is the chip bad? do i send it to hana mods to be redone or is it normal and im just new to this tech and don't understand it yet?. the vape doesn't change. its still flavorful provides good exhale i just don't know if its miss firing or whats going on. also im running a Sony 18650 VTC4 in it.

Thanks,

Mike.

I'm not an expert, but I'm not sure that you actually have a problem. A coil will vary in resistance over the course of its life and whether it's wet or dry (and temperature too), we just aren't used to devices that can pick up these changes tiny changes (big changes in the case of temperature sensing coil). Correct me if I'm wrong, the subtank does not have a temperature sensing coil. I think this is probably just a case of having to adjust to new and more accurate technology.

I think you'll love it.

*edit* I just tried a couple Kanthal builds on my DNA40 and it's doing the same thing. Pretty sure everything is fine.

Well even if it is in TP mode, it should switch to voltage mode on its own (with a kanthal build on the mod). Are you seeing the voltage on the screen when you fire the mod? If it's displaying a temperature on the screen with a Kanthal build on the mod, then you might have a problem.

Some of what you're seeing is normal. For instance, my Origenny (which is running a .75 ohm mesh build in it) will read .88 ohms when I first put it on the mod. Then, when I fire it, it will jump down to .75-.76 ohms.....not sure why that is.....maybe your coils really are .55 and 2.08 respectively?

You need to make sure your device is NOT in TP mode but as jackrussel said, I think you are fine. The sub tank is a sub ohm atty and the bvc's have a tendency to vary a bit as well in my experience with them.

You think your values jump around now, wait till you start playing with nickel build and TP mode!!

Thanks everyone for the replies, i thought it might be just new tech and i wasn't use to it. just wanted to make sure. how would i know if its in TP Mode? i didn't get an instruction manual with mine. and they are not temp sensing coils. the aspire is just a normal bvc, and the kanger is a quare cotton filled .5 prebuilt, i did see the new sensor coils on vaporshark tho they look awesome. i was thinking the same about the coils, maybe my other devices aren't as advanced as the hana and don't pickup the readings the same way. again thank you guys for the help. this thing really is amazing.

to check if in temp mode:

click 5x(to lock)
once locked, hold both the up and down buttons @ same time for about 3-5 seconds...the temp setting should now be displayed
adjust temp by pushing up/down buttons(up for higher temp, down for lower temp)
to turn off temp mode- adjust temp up, after 600 it should go to off......click fire button 5x to unlock.

while you are at it- if you hold the down(decrease temp) button while in temperature adjustment menu, I think after you scroll below 200 you will have the option to choose fahrenheit or celcius. If you can pick celsius, you have a newer board.

Here is some info on the DNA40: http://www.evolvapor.com/datasheet/dna40.pdf . Just below your resistance reading on the screen will either be a temperature or voltage reading. You should be seeing a voltage reading since you aren't using a nickel coil. Click the fire button 5 times to put in lock mode, then hold up and down together for a few seconds to adjust temperature settings. It should automatically switch back to volts because it knows the coil isn't nickel.

****edit**** blacklung beat me to it.

Gratz on your new mod am jealous :) Am not an expert far from it.Here is the link too the manual think it may come in handy for you. Sounds like normal operation the DNA 40 has real time ohms reading. As the coil heats up the coils resistance will change. As the ohms changes so will the delivered volts to give you the consent watts you have set. from the way your talking your chip working 100% in kanthal mode.

The TC only works with Ni200 wire. Prebuilt coil head are coming out now, they have a blue gasket on them. I don't have a list of the coil heads now coming in Ni200 but more will be added as the chip get more popular. Not a bad idea too test your chip in TC mode at some point. You have a full year on the chip so no rush. There is still talk of chips freezing up after getting a "fixed" DNA so it still up in the air if evolv really has 100% fixed the chip. Dont think you need to worry about it now enjoy your mod and when the time comes, then you can worry about the TC.

EDIT: I take too long to post at the time no one had posted the link

it won't let me go bellow 200, so im assuming its not the newest board. Thanks for the info. it turns out it was in the right mode.

yeah it was on volts mode but i did turn off the temp control.

Thanks. yeah its working great. the display was just weirding me out as im not use to something this advanced. the sigelie was my most advanced mod till i got this, and even that had its weirdness when i first got it but figured it out and it was normal i just wasn't use to it. i hear ya everytime i post i miss my chance and someone else gets to it first haha.
