Is there any way to safely clean the valve or whatever it is that activates on an auto battery when you suck through the carto?

I've been bad lately and have overfilled my cartos a couple of times when they were screwed onto the battery and some juice leaked in. Now it seems like I have to suck really hard to get the light on and have to continue sucking really hard to keep the light lit.

I was thinking I could probably use the battery as is until it is completely dead, then dip the carto end of the battery in rubbing alcohol and see if I could loosen up whatever is clogging it. Do you think this would work?

If not, does anybody know of a solution that would work?

Also, is there any danger in using rubbing alcohol? I was thinking that maybe there are seals or something inside the battery that the alcohol might melt.

Depends on if you've really gunked the battery inlet vs. got some goop in the holes where air comes in.

A small thumbtack is handy -- look at the base of the battery, below the threading, and you'll see a couple of small holes. If there's any gunk, poke it with the tack. Then take the tack and move it around the inside edge, between the outer wall and the center post, see if some gunk comes up on it.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't think the air holes are the problem. I can get a fine draw through the carto without sucking hard, but the battery doesn't activate unless I suck really hard. If I take the carto off and just suck on the end of the battery, the light comes on easily.

I'm thinking that it is taking a higher level of suction to activate the battery than it should, and, because there is so much air flow into the carto from the holes, i can't get sufficient suction without sucking really hard.

That's why I'm wondering if i might be able to somehow dissolve the gunk inside the battery.

i am having the exact same issue as you with my 510 battery. have you found a solution yet? i've even tried taking of my cart and sucking directly on the atomizer, but it still requires the same hard draw strength, and it seems like its getting a lot of air flow. i've even tried plugging the holes on the outside of the atomizer, where the battery and atomizer meet, to try to get more suction but its a no go

i fixed mine, i dont know if this would fix yours, but i would like to share what i did. i took a knife and scraped out some of the gunk in the battery cup of my auto battery, then got a paper towel, rolled up the end into a hard tip and dipped it in rubbing alcohol, dabbed it off a bit and scrubbed the inside of it in a clockwise manner. then i let it sit on there for a bit, dried it off with a dry paper towel, and bam it works like a champ again.
