I recently bought an e-cig starter pack and was recommended 16mg to start with, I have been unable to use them as when taking it back it was just to harsh on my chest and lungs. Yesterday I went back into the shop and was recommended to try 11mg instead. I have tried it this morning and it is better but still a little harsh. I don't want to go down another step as I will be too low down on my nicotine so can I expect it to settle the more I use my Kanger or has anyone got any other tips to help please?

What setup (mod & tank) are you using? What is the resistance of your coil?

Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Many juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

If you got the Kanger Evod starter kit, it came with a dual coil. The dual coil is great for flavor enhancement and throat hits but if you have a sensitive throat (like me), it can make you cough. The dual coil can also produce a warmer vape which again can be irritating to the throat. If you are will to try making another purchase try the mini nautilus along with the Istick 30w. The mini nautilus will allow you to adjust the airflow. (I prefer the largest hole). The Istick 30w produces a cooler vape. I set mine on 8.4 watts (my sweet spot). The 20w Istick may be less expensive and is more popular but it produces a warmer vape. Of course I am giving you my opinion that works for me. Everyone is different. The harshness could be the ratio of pg/vg. Too much pg will cause more of a throat hit. Too much nicotine is very irritating. I also one of the weird ones that will cough with too much vg which is why I do the 50/50 blend. I hope you are able to correct whatever issues you are having. Remember to keep hydrated and keep in mind the smoking may be causing some of the problem. If you can totally lay down the cigarettes, then see what happens in the next couple of days.

Sorry to comment again. If you are not in a financial position to make another big purchase, try the Kanger Mini Protank 2. It uses a single coil. They are not that expensive. Keep in mind if you have the starter battery that is not a variable voltage get the single 1.8 or 2.2 ohm coils. If you try to run a higher ohm coil on a starter battery, it may make the battery work too hard to try to heat the liquid. The starter batteries usually run at 3.7 volts then as the battery runs down the voltage goes down to about a 3.3.

I don't think the 20W Istick will drop below battery voltage.

or a GS Air2 14mm tank using the 1.5 ohm coil?
Sweet-vapes has the tank for $8.20 the coils are around $10 for 5 and last a long time. Longer than the Kanger coils and a better vape experience.

the 1.5 coil works nice on an unregulated Ego battery.

Another thing you can do, which May or May Not work. And that is to take the Cap/Dripper End off your bottle of e-Liquid. and let it sit overnight so the Air can get to the e-Liquid.

Some people say that a New e-Liquid that is a little Harsh can be Improved by doing this.

Not sure how much this Could/Can work. But it is a Simple thing to Try. And it Isn't going to Hurt it either way.

Do you know the pg/vg ratio of the eliquid that you are using? My daughter and I found that anything from 50/50 pg/vg to 30pg/70vg worked very well for us with our Evods. We were using original Evod starter kits that came with Kanger single coils, and 650 mah batteries. Even when we switched from Protank 2 Minis to Evod Glass clearos, those pg/vg ratios worked well for us, whether we used Kanger single or dual coils with the Evod Glass. We used 1.8 or 2.2 Kanger single coils, or 1.5 Kanger dual coils.

I'm going to add to this high VG give some people tightness of chest and cause them to wheeze. :)
