I'm new to ECF and have a question about travel with PV's. I'll be taking a cruise in a few months and was wondering if anybody has had issues with boarding or security with the PV's. Do they frown upon these objects, I don't want the TSA to stripe search me or anything. I just want to get on the ship, start drinking and vape.

HA! YES! Just got back last week. I was informed last minute that the ship. (Royal Caribbean Explorer of the seas) was a non smoking ship. So i sought out a local supplier and found ecigg.org. (Thanks John :)) Anyway, I bought a little 510 stick with clearomizers filled em up and threw the juice, charger, accesories in a zip lock baggie and put it in my suitcase. As for the pv itself i put it in a metal cigar tube and put it in my pocket in case of leaks. When i got to the security area i was thinking that it had to look suspicious under the xray. Not a problem, I actually went through the xray a few more times with it getting back on the ship whenever i left.

Come to find out the ship was not completly smoke free and did have multiple smoking areas. Have a good trip. It's nice vaping with a view. ;)

If I'm not mistaken, TSA still doesn't have a whole lot to do with cruise ports. Getting on the ship, the security is mostly handled by the port/cruise line. And they're mostly looking for people smuggling booze. You have more than 5 posts, so you should be able to see the Travel section now, and lots of various travel related info there.

Anyone that is going on a Princess cruise this is there official policy taken from there website:D

Electronic Cigarettes
The use of electronic cigarettes is permitted in all areas onboard with the exception of dining areas and the Princess Theater. However, should a fellow passenger in the vicinity feel inconvenienced and complain, even after being told the difference between electronic cigarettes and real cigarettes, we will ask the passenger to refrain from smoking the electronic cigarette.

Have seen a few vaping on board with no problems at all :) That's including other passengers never had one complain.

I spoke to Carnival this afternoon and they told me that E-cigarettes are treated exactly the same way cigarettes are treated. They referred me to this,,,

Effective June 15, 2011, cigarette smoking in public venues will only be permitted in Carnival’s dance clubs as well as in designated areas within the casino and casino bar.

Smoking (including cigars) will be permitted in designated exterior open deck areas (starboard side) of all our ships. Additionally, smoking will also be allowed in the jazz clubs of the following ships: Carnival Destiny, Carnival Triumph, Carnival Victory, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Pride, Carnival Legend, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Valor, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Freedom, and Carnival Splendor.

* All Spa Suites and Staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, are an entirely smoke-free environment. Spa suites and staterooms are on the following ships only: Carnival Splendor, Carnival Dream, Carnival Breeze and Carnival Sunshine.

* Effective December 1, 2011, smoking will be prohibited in all guest staterooms. Guests in balcony staterooms may smoke (including cigars) outside on their balcony.

Guests who smoke in their staterooms will be assessed a $250 USD cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival’s ticket contract.

Note: Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only allowed in the designated smoking areas.

Apparently you are not even allowed to smoke them in your own cabin. But I'd like to know how the heck they'd even KNOW you smoked one there?

Thank you so much! Yeah how would they know LOL I'll probably be out on my balcony vaping most of the time, with a hallowed out coconut fruity drink.

Of course, as you already know, they would have no idea.

I just recently got back from a Carnival Cruise, and this was my experience...
--Vaped in my stateroom as much as I damn well pleased
--Asked if I could use it in a bar and was told that I could not
--Vaped openly in the casino with no issues
--Stealth vaped at our dinner table, which was luckily just me and the wife
--Vaped somewhat openly in the non-smoking adult sundeck area with no issues
