Give up on it and get something decent. Other people have had the same problems as you with that model. If you want something small get a Joye 510 w/ manual batteries. The 510 manual batteries are totally sealed on the end so juice drips won't kill them. The 510 threading is the single most supported threading for everything. With a manual you will be able to use atty+carts or atty+drip tip to drip on it, or use cartomizers and not worry about a drip killing the battery. I love my 510 w/ a Boge (standard resistance, not LR) cartomizer.
This guy was much happier w/ a 510 than the Quantum

To check prices go to Liberty-Flights.com and click the 20% off in the upper left of the front page (I needed Internet Explorer to see the 20% off) - once you click that all price will be shown as 20% less. Then click Joye 510 on the left side and look at the bundle.
For comparison, check LiteCigUSA.net and see what their price is on a manual Joye 510. And you can check Cignot.com too - they have an under $40 price for an unboxed Joye 510 set. And you might want to check out the PCC 510 kits at NoSmokeVA.com - just search there for PCC. They have a very nice PCC (charging case) and they do sell a manual 510 kit with the PCC. If you buy there chose the kit with the atomizer and you can alsways get cartomizer later. And wherever you get your 510, you may want to pick up a 510 drip tip for testing juices.
You will need eliquid for refilling the carts. And also to help get the primer off the atomizer (the primer keeps the atomizer nice during shipping but tastes bad - you can blow out the atty into a napkin, drip some eliquid on the bridge /\ of the atty, wait a minute, then vape that off without inhaling then blow out and repeat.)
Once you get used to the cart+atty, try some Boge non-LR cartomizers (disposable combined cart+atty - fill well and keep one damp and it can last 1-2 weeks).
