I've seen an eVic post about Issues. Im glad Im not the only one with problems I somehow knew I wouldnt be. My distributor told me I was his only person with Issues.
I purchased a full eVic box with Firmware v1.1, and a spare joyetech 2600 mAh battery. I installed the battery that came in the box, and it worked great. I used it for a little while, and then put the battery on charge. It charged fine to a full Successful Charge, but it took 5 hours from 43% - the Manual says it will charge the battery is 3 hours WRONG! I knew it wouldnt charge that fast, but thats really OK, because it is being charged at the proper rate.
I used the eVic without issues until I decided to install the Spare battery and charge it. That battery charged up to 97%, and then the displayed charge dropped to 94%, and just kept varying between 94% and 97%, and never reached a Full Charge. Knowing the other battery only took 5 hours for a similar charge, after 8 hours, I unplugged the charger at a 94% cycle and used that battery in the eVic. The eVic showed the charge to be 99% (odd!). It worked good, but when I recharged it again, it did the same thing.
So I decided to put the first battery back in and use it a while, so I could and charge it, to see what would happen. This battery did the same as the Spare this time. Only it got Worse. The battery got to 97%, then dropped to 94%, and did that a couple of times, then dropped to 93% after a while, and then 30 minutes later, after not changing from 93%, it dropped to 92%.
I watched it at 92% for a while, then took it off charge and used it. The eVic worked OK, and showed a 98% charge (even more odd!), but this really concerned me, knowing how dangerous Lithium Ion batteries can be. Im having to return this set for a refund, as the only resolution offered.
I have had nothing but issues with each and every e-cig Ive tried since I started this whole Experiment 3 months ago, so I was not surprised at all when I had a problem with another Chinese product. I thought I had made a good decision in selecting a real product, made by joyetech, in their Top-of-the-Line eVic, over some of the knock-off, no-name products Ive been introduced to by a local distributor in the eGo-T design, and others, leading up to this eVic purchase, but maybe ALL Chinese products are Inferior. Its certainly starting to look that way.
I selected the eVic because it had the battery size and features of the American Mods, plus some features in Firmware v1.1 that arent always easily found, but I really dont know what to think any more. Now I have to find a really good e-cig, and a vendor, again.
Has anyone been able to find an e-cig with an 18650 Battery that does not have Issues? Id like to have Variable Voltage, and Variable Wattage if possible, with a versatile 510 Connection for Tanks and Clearomizers, and a good Control Head that doesnt rely only on the protection of a Protected Lithium Ion battery. It would be nice if it was pre-qualified for a Lithium Manganese Battery, too. Ive read that the Provari has this LiMn pre-qual, but I have no idea about its quality.
The eVic had all of the features I was looking for (minus the LiMn pre-qual), plus some things I didnt really care about, like MVP, and at $105, it seemed like a really good deal. It was pretty easy to use, and change the settings, and I loved the big screen, with all the details it displays, but I need something without Issues.
Maybe it was my Spare Battery that created problems, and apparently ruined the Control Head. Maybe Ill ultimately give the eVic another try, from another vendor, but Id appreciate the input from any Happy Users.
Id really like to hear any and all Success Stories.
Thanks,
