Those only have a 550mAh discharge rate. That is a .55 amp discharge. A standard 14500 has a discharge rating of 1.4 - 1.6 amps. I would not use them!

Maybe I'm a ditz but, why, in the world not? Seems to me with the added safety, and shelf life of a LiFe battery its worth some experimentation. But, I'm no expert, I'm just shooting ideas. Mine, is to actuarially parallel a couple of these suckers together, see how that works and go from there (possibly on to voltage regulation measures), but I digress.

i'm sure i'll be flamed for this but i could care less.

i would say that 99.99% of the people that have had fires or the exploding batteries were the ones at fault.
many of these people with mods have zero clue about what chargers to use, why batteries that seem to both have protection differ in price.. among just the simple understanding that they shouldn't just buy something because people say they are good.
from what i have seen, read, and feel, most have just enough info to be really dangerous.
that said, i'm no expert by any stretch of the meaning and have my brain farts more often than not..

lipo is safter due to the chemical compound. is it needed, not really.
i have friends that will drain series 18650s in no time flat in their super duper flashlights. none of them have popped, caught fire, or had a single explosion using li-ion.
BUT, they do know more than most everyone here about the proper care and chargers to use.

not to put you on the spot but, those batteries are 3v, you can not charge a 3v on a 3.7v charger. that is what the tekk charges.at
a 3v battery maxes out at or around 3.6v as where a 3.7v maxes out at 4.2v

back to batteries blowing up or w/e people want to say. its common mistakes like this that lead me to believe that anyone that has had an issue is to blame. not saying everyone, but my first thought will be "yet another person that screwed something up".

Add a juice catcher; It has a good look and works great

so just place epoxy on the bottom of the washer then slide it over the atty and push it down on the box? that easy huh?

That is surely an option, but I wouldn't do it. The top of the Tekk is curved and the washer is flat. Put too much pressure on it and you've got a cracked top. I would suggest modding the bottom of the washer to match the curve of the top; then you add stability to the top and help prevent the top from cracking.

Roger that. I use a 4" coupling with emery cloth wrapped around it to "file" the connector (finish washer) down to countour perfectly with the top. Pics up shortly.......

thanks for all the info mcgyver. now the hard part is making something similar.
Here is the assembled contoured connect. -- And yes, that is my finger print - permenantly glued to the top laminate. I used Gorrilla Brand reinforced super glue - Gorilla tough Like my Mommy

Sorry for the lack of detail - but these are the basics:

The parts

THEPARTS.jpg

Nice work!! The rest of the unit could disintegrate and that top assembly would still be there!

I saw that big piece of PCV in the parts pic and was wondering what kind of mighty vape machine you were gonna make with that!!! I was hoping it would take the "weirdest thing" award away from my cap-o-mizer... lol ;) Nice way to get the right contour!

I can't put a juice catcher on my Tekk because I kept the flashlight. My atty connector is mounted to the side so there's no stress on the top face. I just kinda carved away at the face little by little until everything fit and it's held up well.

I might put the juice bottle inside now that I know how (thanks DC!)... but I have it attached to the outside and it's not too bad. I hot glued the bottle cap to the side of the unit and put a little near the bottom on each side to hold the bottle in place but I can still remove the glass part to refill it.

I also put a thin bead of hot glue along the high sides of the bottom face so the unit will stand level. It drove me crazy that it wouldn't stand up easily!!
