AGA-T Tip for the day:

If your flavor starts tasting a little off, muted, or in worse cases slightly burned but not necessarily metallic, and you know wicking is good;
Drain your tank and dry burn to evaporate juice from wick, you will likely find a top coil hot spot had developed that you could not see with a juice soaked wick. Adjust as necessary and flavor comes back 10 fold.
This has happened to me a couple of times and it happens so gradually that you don't notice it at first. Eventually you realize that something is off.

When my tank needs topping off, I am getting into the habit of tilting the AGA-T so that the wick is up and completely out of any juice left in the tank and dry burning the coil. This both cleans any build up on the coil and is a quick check that everything is still right.

Gonna give the RBA aga t another try after reading all the great how to's on this thread....The other night It took every ounce of my being not to open the door and sling it into the jungle like woods of my backyard.....

Same here, first RBA I ordered from DV, the 801 Dream. I had to stop myself from grabbing my 20lb sledge hammer and beating it into the concrete then patching it over the concrete...lol After some effort and much reading the little Dream 801 is a "Dream", it vapes with flavor like crazy. I now have working ATA -Satyr and Tiamat + units. I've dropped tanked cartos.:toast: I grab my VV Gripper with my ATA T+ attached to it now as my go to machine. It is the "Flavor Vapor Machine."

Hey ardvaark and coppercustomz, I was there last night! I have a club made of plastic and duct tape that will destroy toilet bowls and was tempted to lay the T+ on concrete and let it have it!!! But I tried again today. I did have to oxidize the wick more, I'm very cautious so that I don't over oxidize them like I have been for my mini did clones and my first 500 T+ wick. I also took more time wrapping the coil and did the double "S" negative and positive connection in dam718's video. It took a while to get the coil firing properly, about 20 mins. My wick is still breaking in but it was good at first and is almost awesome now. I've tried running it with the fill screw in, and it works without a burnt taste, but the flavor and vapor are better with it out. After the wick is 100% I'll try with the screw in again...but I've gotta say that I can't get this thing to leak a single drop, upside down or at an angle, with the screw out. I suppose it might if it was in my pocket and I was running around, but my lavatube with T+ won't fit in my pocket and allow for normal movement, so it's on a lanyard around my neck and moot. I'm a happy vaper again, sorry I almost killed you Aga!!! :vapor:

Oh lordy I'm getting antsy, custom tanks will be here tomorrow !

I meant to ask you earlier in this thread but forgot and now I can't easily find the post: how did you brush the stainless on your AGA-T2? I remember you got a really nice look out of it, and I'd like to knock down some of the shininess in mine. Is it a buffing wheel, or...?

Just my:2c: I would say a fine scotchbrite pad OR 600, 800 or even 1200 grit wet dry sandpaper...

Baditude reporting in with a progress report.

I wrapped my first wick (500 mesh) a few days ago, not pretty but it's my first. Seems to be the correct thickness, has enough room to be able to move in and out of the wick hole but not too loose or tight. Had to order more wire as my first coil broke during adjustment. The remaining wire from the kit was too scraggly looking to attempt another. Ordered more wire and mesh from RTD Vapor.

Wrapped my first coil (30g) last night by first attaching one end to the neg post and progessively wrapping around the wick. I watched Zen do this at a picnic table on YouTube. Five wraps and then attached to the pos post. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BacJzxyr0Nk

Tested resistance on the Provari - 1.5 ohm then error. Adjusted the coils that looked like they needed it. Tested again - 1.7 ohm and no error. Started low and worked up ever so slowly with voltage pulses. Even coil glow throughout. Primed the coil with some juice and heated it with pulses of power. Everything looks good to my noobie eyes.

Filled the tank with juice. Added more to the coils. Put on the cap. Start vaping at 3.0 volts. Decent vapor. Worked up gradualy to 3.7 volts and seem to hit a nice spot. I made the air hole ever so much larger by using a drill bit like an auger for an airier draw.

The most vapor production of any delivery device I've ever owned. The flavor was ok; not great, not bad. Seemed to improve as the day went on as I'm on the second tank full now. I understand these take a tankful of juice to season the wick? Starting to use this on the Silver Bullet at 3.7 volts. I'm pleased, not bad for my first attempt. :D

Finally got enough posts to post here :)

I've read this thread beginning to end the last couple of days as I've got a AGA-T2 in the post. One thing I didn't see mentioned much in later posts with people having short and top coil hot spot issues is are you making sure the mesh seam is facing the pos terminal so that the seam doesn't touch the top coil at all? This seems to be a big factor in getting it working well from a lot of what I've read.

You know, I forgot to mention that in my video... You probably can't see it too well, but I do indeed have the seam facing the center post. Folding the last little bit of mesh inside the wrapped wick seems to alleviate this particular issue as well... But I still put the seam towards the center post just as one extra precaution. Every little thing you can do to prevent coil shorts is just going to make it that much easier to be happy...

Oh, and to the folks that have achieved success as a result of reading through this thread and watching the video, congrats and I'm glad to help!

The #1 tip that got me to having perfect coils every time was to start out at a low voltage, like 3v, and work your way up. Firing at 3v will give you plenty of time to react to a shorted top coil. Once it's stable there, working your way up to whatever voltage you vape at is fool-proof. Never had any luck with mechanical mods and SS, too high of a voltage to work through shorts.

Congrats Bad. I have found that with practice, if you get a solid glowing coil with no hot spots on a tight 500 wick then there is no break in time for flavor. I took me a few wraps and playing with it after I was at the confident stage to get better rather than good performance out of the gate. If you have a good vape, you are well on your way to a great one. Don't be in a rush to break a working setup down, enjoy it.

I'm ready to drill out my hole to 1/8". None of my 1/8" bits will even begin cutting through this SS. Where can I get a bit to cut through this thing?

I just used a sharp metal point punch to open the airhole up more. You could probably use a nail too. I just stuck it in the hole and wiggled it around some and it opened it up nicely.

I used a 1/16" drill bit and used it like a hand held auger, a back and forth twisting motion with my hand, not even under power. I don't think I'd want the hole any larger; this size gives an ideal draw now to my liking.

Just unwrapped my glass tank from My Vapor Store. :(It was wrapped very well in the mail. I have no idea how it could have cracked. I sent them an email. Maybe its supposed to be there? It looks like a V for Vapor.

wow that looks terrible. They should never have sent you that. if it was wrapped well, and the box wasn't terrible beat up, then it couldnt have been done in shipping. let us know how it works out.

I think and really hope he means the wick hole.
I use these dremel bits in my drill. I also have some dewalt bits but the dremel bits seem to be holding up so far. he definitely doent want a 1/8 air hole.
