Finally got a 4 wrap coil at 1.5ohms glowing evenly and I'm getting plenty of vapor BUT the flavor is muted, Just filled my second tank any suggestions:unsure: Thanks

It takes a tank or two to break in a new wick/coil combo before the flavour picks up. Think of it as marinating your wick. ;)

I'm ready to get a IBTanked glass tank for my aga-t plus. I'm hesitant though because their website does not say anything about the aga -t plus. Does their aga -t glass tank fit the aga-t plus?

Peter

I have 2, and they fit perfectly on the plus. They offer two sizes for the aga-t, but I've only tried the smaller size or thickness.

What changed your mind compared to your opinion a few days ago? http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...6377-2nd-wick-wire-build-wow.html#post8520006

I've personally found a slightly metallic taste linger for the first day or so that affects the flavour profile of the juices I use. Once the wick gets seasoned, that goes away.

Both statements aren't mutually exclusive.

The flavour on a correctly prepared wick and coil is spot on right from the start, free of burnt or metallic tastes, etc.

But that flavour will get even better as the wick and coil become seasoned over time.

The AGA-T and AGA-T+/AGA-T2 all use the same size tank. IBtanked model fits all of them.

If you aren't getting full flavor from the start you still have some minor hot spots to work out on your coil.

It takes a tank or two to break in a new wick/coil combo before the flavour picks up. Think of it as marinating your wick. ;)
I used to think this also (it's what "everyone" says). As you gain experience coaxing the coils to glow evenly with no hot spots and no band aid fixes, your opinion will change. The band aids that "take care of the hot leg on the positive post" only stop the top from glowing. The problem that caused it is still present.

A properly set up fresh wick and coil combo requires no flavour or wicking break-in.
This is truth.

I've personally found a slightly metallic taste linger for the first day or so that affects the flavour profile of the juices I use. Once the wick gets seasoned, that goes away.
Any metallic taste has to do with poor wicking, if it is harsh or burnt but not necessarily metallic then it is related to a good wicking set up that has hot spots. Hard to see because the juice on the wick keeps it from glowing.

When that happens I either remove the juice from the tank with a syringe, or just tilt it sideways so the wick is out of the juice, then dry burn til the juice on the wick vapes away and behold a hot coil shows it's ugly head. pulse and adjust coils until it is perfect, refill tank with same juice I just removed and it hits like a night and day difference in flavor.

Thank you for that! I noticed on their website there are 2 different thicknesses of tanks. Will either size fit?

Peter
It is just a difference in tank thickness affecting the inside diameter only. The thicker one is more robust than the thinner one. If you have a stock wick hole you can use either, if your wick hole is drilled out you need to use the thinner one. The thin walled one hold about 12% more juice.

Well I just did my first wick and coil. I've don't know what size the ss mesh is. I rolled it solid, and I lightly oxidized it with a flame and then with juice. I used 34 kanthal, I think its a 3/4 wrap. I used the drill bit method. It's 2.6 ohms. Vaping it now and I'm able to vape it vertically. If I sound a bit scattered its because the process was. I have 12 mg Mt. Baker Vapor Bavarian Cream in the tank, and am using the vamo at 8.5 watts. And its tasting good. Plenty of vapor too. I thought the first tank might be not be good because I've read that can be the case, but this is tasting quite good to me.
Thanks for all the tips in the thread. I think I'd read and watched so much that I just fumbled from one thing to the next and it worked.
Yay!

Kiwi, one of the signs that you got it right is that you get outstanding flavor from the first vape. Finding and destroying all of the hot spots as you ramp up voltage and before it sees one drop of juice is key. As you gain experience it will become second nature.

Awesome job! I love a happy ending.

I have a question relating to the positive battery post for this device. If I could have the post stick out just a bit further, then the wick/hole would line up with my fire button on the VAMO perfectly, which would be more comfortable.

Has anyone used anything to spacer out the post just a hair or two?

The IBTanked actually fits better than the AGA glass. Get the 1.8mm wall thickness.

I have the thicker glass and it works on both the AGA T and the Plus. On the AGA T, The wick rests on the glass, it's seriously thick. I had the Plus come in yesterday, and on a whim, I ordered two glass sections to go with it. They were absolute garbage. one was too short, and thus, useless. The other was almost to short and not entirely level. I made it work, but I will not be ordering those again. IBTanked glass is the only way to go for those who want/need glass in their AGA-T's or Plus's.

EDIT: I have the 2.5 mm wall glass. Either thickness will work fine. I wanted the extra thickness because I am accident prone. :)

You might be able to get away with wrapping a little dental floss or plumbers tape round the bottom of the center post before pushing it into the rubber insulator.
